So how is the Galaxy S5? Some questions

I have 100 hundred apps on my phone and use all of them. I barely get any lag on the s5. I use to root and put custom roms now I don't do that anymore.

Well yes actually I did have the m8 and I traded it for the s5 because I could not get any signal with the m8 due to it being all metal. I also had Motorola the first Droid phone.

Fair enough. I haven't used the HTC One M8 for more than an hour but it was smooth. I couldn't comment on signal strength. Samsung phones are generally worse on signal than others due to their poor radio but it held up fine for me on the Note 3 and S5 although it did shift to 3G randomly. Motorola has the best radios on the market and the new Turbo is a beast all around.

Keep enjoying that S5. That's all that matters and its the great thing about Android! :)

Beats out the S5 in every way except that it can't do Voice+Data at the same time. This will be solved when the VoLTE update arrives within 90 days but it will face the same limitations that the S5 has when using it. Still though, the Turbo is built better, faster, longer lasting battery by a wide margin, better speaker (front facing), good (not great) camera, etc.

I would recommend this device to anyone who has Verizon.

Was going to stick with the S5, but the radio at least where I use it is very poor. Call quality was not up to par, and I found TW not to my liking. But many have it and love it. Gotta decide what is most important for you.

I've had mine for 3 months now and I'm still more than pleased with it. The only phone I'd consider replacing it with is the note 4. It's fast enough, very rarely lags and games run smoothly on it. The only fault I can find with it is the it only has 16 GB of internal storage but as I have a 128GB micro SD card installed it's pretty much a non issue. Battery life is also good. I can get through a day easily with medium usage. On light usage I can get a day and a half. As it has a removable battery I never have to worry about my battery running out as I have a spare that I can just pop in. However in the three months that I've had the phone I've only used it a few times.

I have the same problem with it lagging when trying, quitting an app, touching the soft keys and playing music! Let me know if you find a fix please..I haven't found one yet

I can't post links since I am new to the site but if you go to Youtube and look up the user PhoneBuff he has a video on how to turn your s5 into beast mode and it makes the phone much faster. Easy to do as well. Hope this helps!

1. The Battery life is the only thing that I hate in my Galaxy S5, before I bought it I watched like 100 reviews, all of which said it has a great battery life with a day and a half of moderate use. I don't know what "moderate use" is but if you have WiFi / 4G / Bluetooth / Location / Sync on all the time you won't get a full day ,,,, even if the phone is in your pocket most of the time. and if you used the S-View cover it will drain even faster!
but it's removable so you could have two.

2. TouchWiz isn't as bad as everyone making it look, actually I like it and once you disable MyMagazine and reduce the Animation scale you won't se any lags.

3. about the LED color with whatsapp you can change the color from the app itself, but there are some 3'rd party apps that allows you to choose different color for each app. (including the missed calls and sms, calender, email, messenger ,,,,, etc)

I like the S5, and I recommend buying it despite what I said about the Battery :)

I disagree with the poor battery life as reported above, but it does relate to how much screen time you use.

I have Location on All the time in High Accuracy Mode
I do NOT do many videos, only a few news reports and an occasional YouTube video linked out of an email.

I read all of my emails on the phone culling out the trash for later viewing on the desktop pc. I do nearly all of my news reading on the S5 phone. I tried to turn off MyMagazine but 4.4.4 prevents that now, used to be able to in 4.4.2

All animations are turned off, all motion features are turned off, all pocket sensors are turned off.

I am getting between 2 and 3 days per charge by using MacroDroid to turn the Internet off when the phone is idle (screen locked)

TouchWiz is NOT as bad as a few trolls report it to be, it is alive and working just fine in 4.4.4

I am using the Nova launcher because it allows me to do more things on my home pages that the stock UI will do.

The S5 battery life IMO was average at best. I had to charge mid day but I'm a heavier user. Of course, it appears if you have a carrier other than Verizon the battery complaints wouldn't exist. Verizon sucks batteries dry.

As for trolls and touchwiz... I'm no troll but touchwiz bogs down the device. It uses more system resources than other experiences such as Sense, Nexus or Moto.

I apologize if it seemed I was saying that "you were a troll", as I know you aren't from following a huge amount of your constructive posts.

Also, on smartphones, TouchWiz is the only experience I have.... my prior phone was a Samsung Galaxy S, the original device in the lineup. Now THAT was one very slow phone as it only had 267 mB of free RAM to operate with. Ask that phone to run two apps w/o closing the first one and it crashed, had to pull battery and start over.

Verzion has more crap on their phones than needed, that is for sure, and I have turned most of it off.

Current Nexus 5 User looking to pick between the iphone6 or galaxy s5. For those of you who have it I have some questions:

-BATTERY LIFE!!!!!! How is it so far?
-For thosw of you who have whatsapp - are you able to customize the led icon and turn it to yellow or blue depending>?
-Is it worth it for me to go to the galaxy s5? I really need a better battery.

I have the Verizon S5 and for the battery life (even after the two latest updates), my battery is amazing.. I am not a power user but not a light user either.. Kinda of in the middle. I can go 45-50 hours in between charges. I don't turn anything off. Truly an amazing phone with amazing battery life.

Have had mine since May.

You will get different responses as some folks are experiencing horrible battery life or other issues.. but that is common on all phones. Just read the forums for them.

I don't use whatsapp

I would highly recommend the S5. Always a chance you will get one that has issues but for my wife and I, we never have and currently are not experiencing any issues.. GL..
