hello guys,

Its been awhile since i posted. There is a new way to root, not so new but its a whole lot easier. XDA use unrevoked 3. Ive looked and haven't seen any feed back from this method on Android Central. What i was going to do was wait for the new update 2.3 Gingerbread. then try unrevoked 3. What you guys think of unrevoked 3? btw would anybody know if my phone would be wiped clean meaning lose all my info. I know all the music, pics and some of my apps are on my 16g memory card, but what about the apps thats not on the card?

i used unrevoked 3 and didnt lose anything but if u want to be safe you can get titanium backup and use it to backup all apps and data to your sd card

Your better off rooting before installing the HTC/Sprint Gingerbread update, because once you do that it could be months before it will be rootable. Believe me I thought the same thing before the 2.2 Froyo update then later found out that I screwed myself for a few months!!

Once you root you can run one of the many 2.3 based custom roms out there, and will be able to run the HTC/Sprint Gingerbread update once it gets rooted by the Devs

If your rooted you will only have to wait anywhere from a few hours to days at most for a rooted version of the update... If you stay stock it's anyones guess how long it will take for them to achieve root and like the other guy said you may be stuck for a while....

Once you flash a custom rom the phone will ignore the official update, due to losing root and even possibly bricking the phone. When the official update goes out it will be polished up with all the goodies and have some junk removed. Wouldn't you rather have that?

ok i have 2 question. unrevoked 3. I have a build number 3.70 can i still root with unrevoked3? i got Tbackup but it says i have to be rooted to back it up. i thought i had back up everything 1st then start rooting.

Use the latest version on unrevoked3.31 for the 3.70

To save a list of all your apps for easy download after root try Appbrain. It will give you a fresh install but you need to reenter all the data for each app. Its not possible to save data without root first (I think) Backup your contacts by syncing with Google and exporting a v-card to your SD card. Text messages... who needs to save them? Lol
