So no NFC for Bionic?

i looked again at the GS2 specs, and they still impress. but again, for reasons i can't pinpoint, i don't get nearly as excited about the GS2 as i do about the Targa... Maybe i need to see my therapist more often.

No LTE .... Not for Me :p

I could not agree more!! I have been waiting for NFC ever since I heard about. I even considered the Nexus S because of NFC but decided to hold off for the Bionic. This sucks!

Does anyone know what the next high end Android phone with NFC is?

There's a sticker for that. Seriously, Google said at I/O that phones that didn't have NFC chips could work with a sticker. And no, you can't accidentally make a purchase with a sticker. That was covered. Right now there are only two of three cities testing NFC. I wouldn't expect it to garner any ubiquity until 2013.

CK, aftet getting my Charge, I really have to agree with your reasons for liking the GS2. If it had LTE, or I didn't care if it did, I would have waited for it. I LOVE this screen and how open this phone is, even if the SoC isn't the hottest game in town anymore. Considering this is a very similar phone save the soc and ram, I expect I'll be quite happy with it for some time, and an LTE GS2 in the future would be a great upgrade. Who knows, maybe that'll be the Charge 2.

So it's the display and the "smoothness" of the GSII that you like.. hmm i see.

Yes sir. Another factor that I failed to mention is that I don't feel the need to root and ROM the Galaxy S 2 and can enjoy it OTB. I've had my share of modding my phone's for a while so that was another determining factor. Actually that was at the top of the list. "Can I enjoy this phone without NEEDING to mod it?"

The answer was a resounding Yes. Will I ever mod it? Maybe maybe not I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. But when it runs like a champ OTB I'm a satisfied customer.

Yeah after seeing the screen on the Charge I had to have SAMOLED+ :) nothing can parallel its richness in my opinion.

Awesome question!! :)

No I would not. I'm pretty much in love with the SAMOLED + screen on the Samsung. I will say that the Bionic unlocked would be a beast. Would make for one of the best developer phones out there in my opinion. I'm just partial to the Samsungs screen.

I do like the Bionic and think people are getting a great phone its just not my cup of tea at this time. I do REALLY REALLY like Motorola though. Hey this what makes Android great. We get so many choices accept on Verizon lol.

The Charge is nice. But, at least in my case, the screen wasn't enough to keep me. The phone is slow and the bluetooth on it is questionable.

I really don't see what the big deal is with NFC. Pull your phone out of your pocket, enter your pin to unlock the phone, pull up the app from your app drawer, launch the app, enter another pin number to unlock the app, and then tap it on the NFC scanner. Or you could just pull out your wallet and swipe your credit card like we've been doing for years now. And don't tell me this is the ultimate way to save a few bucks... There are coupons, sales, advertisements and deals all over the place. We are living in a recession, it's not that hard to find heavily discounted items.

NFC will not be truly useful until it is absolutely everywhere and that will not be for at least a few more years.

I totally agree with you. NFC is still a ways off before it becomes mainstream.

I don't feel too safe putting my personal information that deep into my phone. I have friends that would just jack my phone and charge crap to my credit card as a joke and screw me over. Guess they aren't my "friends" then. And also if I lost my phone I'd freak out beyond recognition, even though I can scramble the phone with some security settings.
NFC is a gimmick until more phones support it, and more people ask to use it. Go ask any normal person (that's not an Apple fanboy. They'll say that their phone has "everything they want." And then the iPhone 5 comes out and their phone sucks and they throw it against the wall to try to get a new one) if they would want NFC and they'll be like "what's NFC?" It's not a mainstream thing yet, and not many places even support it. And places that do don't often see it being used a lot.

I love new technology, it is exciting to see certain things change a new way of accomplishing normal everyday tasks changes our lives.

A technology that I would have to pay for so that stores can take my money faster??? I truly and honestly couldn't care any less about NFC!

As little as I actually "shop", this will make absolutely no difference to me. Women will be the ones most affected by this.

I'm more interested in some of the other uses for NFC then Google Wallet, at least until vending machines support it. I like the idea of NFC business cards. Something cool for work would be NFC-enabled parts control tags. I think purchasing is just one of many uses we'll see. I
