All,

Had the GS4 for 5 days, it is ok but not overly impressive. I am amazed by the LG screen though I was it was 5 inches and I love wireless charging. Touch-wiz blows. My main concerns are dev support, unlocking of BL, and accessories. I believe that there will be tremendous support for the GS4 over the long run and the BL will be cracked shortly. I am not sure about the LG...

It is not like, I am really going to have this phone all that long, but I have never had an LG and I can only find one forum supporting (this one).

TIA,

AC

If you want a larger community (rooting and 3rd party gear) stick with Samsung.
The LG phone is great as is and I am one of the few who could care less about rooting, been there done that.

I agree here. Although I like rooting most of my devices. This phone is really solid as is out of the box. I have an S4 and for me I am enjoying this phone more and its my daily driver for now

I have both and I use the LG. My S4 has been in the drawer since the OG Pro arrived and I have no intention of taking it back out. I will probably give it to my wife.

Root is critical but the BL unlock and Rom support would be nice. But I also have the HTC One DE, so that should take care of my Rom needs...

Root is really what I want and that has been achieved. Mostly for ad blocking that is really about it, and maybe a few apps that require root. But the BL while beneficial the dev focus on that may be tough though there is one dev who was willing to give it a look. Accessories are slim to none and I was hoping to see something other than these horrible slim cases that offer zero impact protection. Still looking to swap out my 3 day old S4 for the OG Pro. I know I will have this phone for maybe a year, maybe longer but I really want the bigger screen for work.

I'll have mine for 6-8 months tops. Paid FP and saved my upgrade for later in the year. I just can't keep a phone longer than 6 months...what can I say I like toys.

My kids love me.

I'm the same way, this is a great phablet phone for now and will be solid for 6 months, if the GN3 turns out being something truly worth getting well then I have one more upgrade available that I can use or I can just pay FP then. I am torn between returning the S4 and the OG Pro. I want the bigger brighter screen, but some of the UX just isn't for me. Trade off's are a bummer.

Well, i consider myself Galaxy S4 BIGGEST advocate, i actually owned all it on all 3 carriers (don't ask, my husband IS on the verge of committing me to the looney bin...lol) and i myself ordered the Optimus G Pro after using it for approx an hour in the AT&T Store. I had come to love LG with the HD 4X Optimus, but that phone jusssssst wasn't there yet, it had camera freezing issues. the battery life was poor, my msgs wouldn't send (i was on Straight Talk @ the time) and it was only a 4.7 inch screen (go BIG or go home : )

My SGS 4 is a lot of what i dreamed about, or so i thought, (minus the jitters and stutters) but after a very few min with the SGS Pro, i knew that was the phone for me. The plastic would prolly bother some, but mine's going right in a flip case so that is a NON issue.... LG got it totally right with their 32 GB on board mem, their UI lets you customise EVERYTHING without being a burden on the op system, and the brightness of the phone is nothing short of stunning. 5.5 isn't my OPTIMUM size, i really like the 5 inch SGS 4, but i can easily deal with it now that phones have creeped up so big, 1/2 inch is NOT a dealbreaker for me. The 4.5 mm less width it has makes it feel just that smidge easier to hold than the Note 2....

Mine will be here Friday, which is just in time, because my husband is driving me to the mental hospital (Phone Addicts Ward) on Saturday and i can be setting it up on the way there... .lol

I have to agree with you Bossy Texas Chick, if my wife only knew how many phones I have owned this year let alone in the last 12 months I would likely get shot or committed, heck likely both. I originally pre-ordered the OG Pro since the S4 didn't come in 32GB, then it did and I opted to get it last Saturday. Now a few days later I am regretting that decision and will be exchanging my S4 tomorrow for an OG Pro.

The lack of accessories or cases out there is a bummer, but I do hope some additional options come along since I hate TPU cases as a general rule, although they are cheap and keep the phone thin. Still I had the OG Pro in my hands with the free flip cover and to pass it over is killing me, now I will have to pay for the cover I may or may not actually want in the end. Hoping my rep will do me a solid. If he can't no biggie he was a good rep and I won't exchange elsewhere and have him lose his commission.

I have the GS4, HTC One, and Optimus G Pro. IMO the only two that I would even consider for daily use are the HTC One or Optimus G Pro.

Galaxy S4 collects dust until a case comes in to do an unboxing.

I dunno, it is a lil bit of a drawback i suppose, but on the other hand, with the S4 had tried the S View cover, (in black AND white) a bling bling case, the jelly case and also "bareback" (without ANY case on it AT ALL, and i STILL wound up returning it so it turns out "clothes DON'T always make the man" (or in this instance, "Cases Don't Make The Phone",,, (my insanity asides...lol)

i think if the phone is "the right phone" then, accessories/schmaccessories...lol

Most of us AndroidCentralians would take up the ENTIRE hospital... AND the mods could reside in the annex...lol

I had the S4 for a few days but returned in because of the lag and problems with the screen (smearing/red tinted blacks/black clipping...xda forums are packed with screen issues ). I have decided once and for all to stay away from AMOLED screens. I checked out the OGP today at the local ATT store. Its a beauty...and a beast. The UI was fast and customizable (I probably wouldnt find a need to use Nova launcher with this phone). The screen just looks amazing. I found that I could write pretty legibly with my fingers with Q notes. I'm absolutely fine with the back button being on the left since my Gnex button arrangement is the same way. Some might argue to wait for the Note 3....no thank you.....its probably going to cost 300 dollars on contract and come with only 16gb (8.5 gb usable) memory. Plus, the AMOLED headaches.

I got my LG Optimus G Pro today. nom nom nom. Awesome so far. First full day with an android phone.
Its awesome. I'll say more when I figure out how to use the dam thing. lol

OK, I've now used pretty extensively the HTC One, S4 and LGP. Hands down the LGP is the best phone overall....BUT...unfortunately I think I'm going to return it. Heartbreaking really as I just love the phone, but after using it for a few days it's really just too big. Not in my hand...I have no problem using the phone, but if you put it in your jeans, the top portion barely sticks out, and if you try sitting down the phone wants to slide out of the pocket. With shorts on it just feels too big in the pocket. And it is a fairly thick phone as well. If you are certain the size won't be an issue (for many it wont) this phone blows away the S4 and the One. Seriously.
