So... what color are you getting?

I know many people put cases on their phones, including non-clear ones, and aren't so bothered by the color of their phone. For others, color and design in general are a pretty big deal, myself included.

Several on this forum, including myself, are pretty unimpressed with the S20's color options. It generally seems like design and color choices weren't given as much attention as in the past. Perhaps Samsung is devoting most of its resources toward the Z Flip and the Fold 2.

There isn't even a black or white option for the regular S20, let alone a premium-looking color like red or gold.

Anyway, here are the color options for each S20 according to reliable leakers:

Regular S20: Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue, Cloud Pink

S20 Plus: Cosmic Grey, Cosmic Black, Cloud Blue

S20 Ultra: Cosmic Grey, Cosmic Black

I plan to go with the regular S20 if I make the jump, though I'm still undecided between the grey and the blue. One looks like a regular, uniform grey, and the other like a powder blue. However, the official renders seem to suggest there might be a slight color-shift effect to the "Cloud" colors (blue and pink), whereas the "Cosmic" options (black and grey) are solid colors.

Which one of Samsung's less-than-inspiring 2020 flagship color options are you going with?

yeah I'm not feeling that light blue at all. I really liked the Blue note 10+, shame they didn't offer it for the S20. I'm dismayed they didn't even offer black for the S20. Looks like I may have to go with the 20+ then.

The more I look at the S20, the more I think that Samsung's design peaked last year with the S10 line, and now it's going downhill.

I'm glad I picked up a blue S10+. I'm not sure what I'd get if I needed a new device from this bunch. Thankfully, I don't need to worry about that.

I'm glad quite a few people share this sentiment. I've seen it in this forum, on Twitter, etc. I say I'm glad because one would think/hope Samsung is paying attention to this consensus and acts accordingly.

I always use a case anyway but I would only choose black or cosmic grey if I got one of the S20s.

Pink! Lucky I want the smaller S20. If the colours of the S20 and S20+ were swapped, I would probably fold and get the bigger phone, just to have pink..

You wouldn't believe just how many people think that "newer HAS to mean better"

I always seem to get black on everything Samsung phone. Currently using a Pixel XL and it's black. My S10+ was black and wished I'd went with white. Not sure here I'd rather see better pictures before I make a final decision.

I don't understand being so disappointed in the design. It's pretty similar to the Note 10+ other than the camera setup. that's a physical space issue, and something we're gonna have to deal with for a bit.

Now when it comes to colors, I get the disappointment. The blue looks fine, but not great. I can see some people liking the pink, but I don't personally. Grey and black are just too close imo. If they're gonna bother making 2 subdued colors, why not pick something with more differentiation? White, navy, or almost any jewel tone can look professional and subdued without being boring like gray.

It seems like that Samsung is saving the better color options for regions like Asia or South Korea. The US never seems to get colors like red orange or even a copper color. And all we get here is the boring black blue or gray.

What makes me more angry than the way they only make certain colors for certain markets is when they release a new color in my market a few months after release. I sorta get it from a business standpoint, but as a consumer I find it annoying.

Wait a minute, who says you "have" to deal with such an ugly looking design?

You can vote with your wallet by NOT purchasing the damn thing, keep last year's model which is already very, very good, for years to come.

I guess I worded that poorly. I meant if we want the newest most advanced camera hardware it's something we'll have to deal with until the tech shrinks down a bit to allow for better camera array design. I didn't mean that there were no other options such as keeping your old phone or buying something with less advanced hardware.

I see.

I wish there were more options out there which emphasized on other things other than camera, for those who don't care about getting the latest and greatest camera experience.

I bet most consumers don't use their phone cameras to the fullest of their potential anyway, and probably also don't use them nearly as much/often as they thought they would prior to purchasing it.

...but I guess I'm an outlier.

You're not an outlier I don't believe. I always want the best camera telling myself "this is the year I'm gonna take photography seriously with my phone". I never do though. I just take the same types of photos as always.

I think cameras are just a good marketing tool for OEM's at the moment. It's easy to use great photos in ads. Also, cameras seem to be one of the features that are making bigger strides right now. Other than higher refresh rates which will only show in video ads, there's less to market showing differentiation between all the OEM's. That's my take on it anyway.

I guess, but so you already know that it wouldn't be worth it to upgrade to any S20 phone if you have one from last year.
Most people don't even "red-pill" like this and are easily convinced that they need to have the latest one lol
