So why didn't you chose the s4?

What's the point of threads like this? You own a s4 and by looking at the threads you've started you offer no real input into anything other than doing opinion polls

I'm finding the post informative considering I'm on fence between the Q10 and the S4, coming from the Bold 9900.
I've read the main review(s) on the S4 posted here on the front page and elsewhere, but looking to see what everyday users like/dislike about it.

Like I have said Samsung is starting to do the cookie cutter thing with their phones they all look the same have a cheap feel to them and the overall design of the phone is not very good. Either way they are both good devices but HTC to me is a real phone manufacture where Samsung just branch off into the market is all. Not saying Samsung devices are no good just think they are not in the same league as HTC. Samsung has a good propaganda machine kind how Apple use to but people are not drinking the Apple Juice and they are realizing there are always other options out there. But at this time I would say HTC and Samsung have the best Android devices out folks just have to make up their mind what fits their needs the best.

Looks like they are already having some issues with their screens as well.

Is your Samsung Galaxy S4 screen giving you the scrolling blur and purple/pink inversion treatment? You are not alone

Have to say that the S4 has a lot going for it. That said the One just seems better all around. With having this lousy back speaker on my Gnex. I'll gladly step up to the One and those beautiful LOUD speakers.

BTW if I wanted lag I'd just keep this thing I'm on.

Reviews say S4 is as loud or louder just not as clear

I have persosnally enjoyed HTC more for the most part. I love the design, super LCD I prefer and having only 9gb left on a phone sucks!!! Not much room for apps! Also love the speakers and beats audio sounds great finally!

I'm very partial to HTC, but there are a few things that really sealed the deal for me.

  • Plastic VS Aluminum
  • Sterio front speakers
  • Blinkfeed - I LOVE IT
  • HTC Sense is a lot more usable than Touchwiz
  • Most of my photos I take are in low light, and this phone takes great low light photos
  • The screen is beautiful, even when compared to the S4

I have a thing for rooting for the underdog. My last phone was the Inspire4G and I loved that thing. Everyone and their grandmother seem to have a 'Galaxy' or an iPhone. I wanted to have something different while doing my part to help HTC take a bite out of Sammy. On top of that, the phone is #$@@%$ awesome.

TouchWiz is ugly (opinion) and bloated (fact). While playing with a brand new S4 I got it to lag in 5 minutes (I wasn't even trying to), my One hasn't lagged once. I think Sense 5 looks great (better than stock IMO) and has features that are useful to me. Samsung phones feel cheap (which has nothing to do with being plastic, the Nokia Lumia line is plastic and most of them feel very high quality). I take lots of pictures in less than perfect lighting, more than I take in great lighting, so the One's camera fits my use pattern better.

Why does it matter to you? Maybe he's reconsidering. I find peoples comments interesting.

For me it's not about any shortcomings of the S4, but that the HTC One was so compelling:

  • Perfect sized screen w/amazing resolution/dpi & excellent color, brightness
  • Love the design
  • I listen to TONS of music via headphones so Beats is a significant +
  • I like to watch movies/video on it, so front-firing speakers are a great choice
  • I've always liked Sense overall (despite a few odd choices here and there), and now Sense 5's minimal/light approach makes it the best yet
  • New features like Zoe, Blinkfeed, TV app are all actually useful
  • Camera's emphasis on low-light/indoors/nighttime capabilities is a great match for the type of photography I usually do

So, in a nutshell, there's no other phone that matches my needs as well as the HTC One and I'm loving it.

Didn't even consider the S4, because of Samsung phones quality. I've had friends and people in my family using the S3 and all I've heard is lag issues, battery lasted for 2 months, freezes,.. and touchwiz looks poorly designed to me so I try to avoid Samsung products if possible. Just look in the S4 forum now and you can see there are many issues with the phone already.

I liked the Ultrapixel camera. I find being able to take useful pictures in low light settings to be of greater value than slightly higher resolution photos in great light.
Boomsound. Enough said.
The ergonomics won me over the moment I picked it up. It fits perfectly in my hands and I can use it one-handed without a fear of dropping it.
I liked how much space it had built-in. I know, the S4 has micro-sd but let's be real...you can't install apps on it and Google is trying hard to get manufacturers to drop support. I'd rather head the direction Google is pushing Android than go against it.
Overall it just seemed like a fantastic phone and so far it has blown me away at every opportunity. Any doubts I had have been answered and this phone is excellent from top to bottom.

Why?

1. I don't agree with Samsung's business ethics. They hire students to bash the HTC One on message boards. (documented) Yeah, they publicly apologized for "insufficient training" of the people who hired the students. Big deal. The product launch for the GS4 was horrible sexist. I don't want to contribute any money towards that kind of stuff. Their whole aura leaves a bad tasted in my mouth.

2. Samsung product support sucks. I have a bunch of Samsung electronics-- tablet, wifi camera, phone, etc. I don't know where they get their support people, but they are rude, condescending, and mostly have very little knowledge of the product. Their product manuals are horribly incomplete, which makes it necessary to contact support at times.

3. The Gs4 looks like it could be a vintage phone, 60's style. The design goes right along with their attitudes towards women. They are about 50 years behind. The phone is just not....modern. It has a very cheap feel, and has lag problems, according to the Gs4 board. The vaunted new air stuff and smart stay doesn't work consistently, and I probably wouldn't use those anyway. I see on the Gs4 board that the air hover feature causes arm fatigue. The display has "green color" problems.

4. On the other hand, my HtC One is perfect. I have run into no problems. I like the camera. I love the sequence shot, I love the highlight videos, I love the display. I have never had a bit of lag. I love blink feed. It actually makes the smartphone experience interesting. I do have Flipbook as well, but I like blinkfeed better, it has a smoother operation. Audio quality is very important to me, and the call quality is excellent. Just an all-around great phone for me.

I have both phones (2 upgrades available) and I got the one first and played with that and then the S4 came four days later, after playing with the the S4 for about a day I boxed it back up and ordered my Speck case for my HTC and I knew I was going to keep it. I have had the GS3 and then the Note 2 and granted those phones were really nice and served me VERY well, I got the HTC one and my daily usage for a cell phone had been stepped up because of all of the features mentioned previously.

The HTC one is in MY opinion a better buy for daily and business use which is what I use it for ...AGAIN just MY opinion. Samsung's choice to incorporate their OWN apps in an effort to separate themselves from the google apps basically meant to me that "we are going to basically repackage the GS3 and pour a little bit of the note in there to entice you to stay with us"....there are quite a few apps on the GS4 that I would never use, and BTW the IR remote on the GS4 is VERY generic compared to the ONE..Just MY .02

I thought this thread was closed......

And what it matters to me is I'm a actual owner of a htc one.. I get sick of comments from people like the OP which mock the one. If someone is starting threads to just f with people and all their comments are just too start a riot then as a member and owner of a device you better believe I'm going to say something. It's not productive
