So why didn't you chose the s4?

I chose the One because I liked the build, screen, ease of use, and the fact that it didn't have a ton of gimmicks attached to it. The device has what I will use in the real world and I do not regret my purchase from day 1. This is my first HTC device and I'm very pleased with Sense and the device overall.

I'm finding the post informative considering I'm on fence between the Q10 and the S4, coming from the Bold 9900.
I've read the main review(s) on the S4 posted here on the front page and elsewhere, but looking to see what everyday users like/dislike about it.
wow,a bold 9900 huh? hey the q10 is a nice device but it uses old tech my buddy is a huge blackberry fan,and I really want blackberry to stick around...you will enjoy the q10 as a berry user but the HTC one is just amazing....besides all the tech in the q10 is the same as evo lte and gs3....If any thing do the upgrade and give each one 7 days each to see how you like em.

Also, it's a 100 times more fluid than the GS4

I bought both and the G4 sits on the shelf to be deemed a backup. I like the HTC One that much.

I bought this because of the design feel in hand and I want to support HTC. plus the advantages the s4 has are trivial to me I had a s3 and note 2 barely used multiwindow and a lot of their things. I like that HTC is taking a more streamlined approach to this phone. Oh and did I say I like how this looks and feels in hand.

I had my heart set on the Z10 but wanted to do my due dilligence and so I checked out both of these phones...decided to go with the Z10 though.

Really?
Hopefully its Android emulator gets upgraded to 4.X soon.
As a Z10 owner myself also if I had to choose between the 2 I'd get the S4...I'll probably get one this summer to keep me busy until the N5.

Coming from a GS3 I was set on getting the GS4 over the One , but after seeing it in the store I hated the faux carbon fiber print they used on the "polycarbonate". In my opinion it looks terrible on the black one and is still plenty visible on the white one which would drive me crazy. I also think they went overboard with their S features and I've grown a bit weary of the touch wiz interface.

I was also blown away by how much better the One looked in person. Video and pictures just don't do it justice and those speakers were awesome. Can't wait for my unlocked version to ship.

Hey man, to each his own. At least somebody compared both and picked the Z10. The Z10 is pretty nice but reminded me too much of the iPhone (build quality and size, not the OS) and I fell in love with how the One felt in my hands. I think BB 10 has tons of promise and I hope they stick with it long enough to get moving again. Same thing with HTC, if they keep putting quality products like this into production then look out! Consumers win all around and really, for those of us here, isn't that what it's all about?

Z10 will be a fine phone when it gets more native apps. I looked hard at it but some core apps that I have to have are not there yet. It will be a player when it has that.

I am still not 100% yet, but I am leaning toward the One. I used to be hardcore HTC since the G1 and nexus one up until the EVO, and EVO3D, then samsung was slowly winning me over with the nexus 2. Then I got the GS2 and now GS3. I counted HTC out for good. Didn't think I could ever own one again..but after playing with this One I am in a tough spot. This is a good spot to be in I guess. Gone are the days of having to switch to a particular carrier for one phone. Now we got multiple heavyweights.

Anyways, I played with them both. The S4 is not that bad with the 'build quality'. Even though it is still plastic it does feel better than the S3. And is even a bit more ergonomic than the One. But I just want a sexy device for gods sake. I know that the aluminum is not necessarily better and can dent, but it feels good to hold and it is nice to show off. I perceive it as being more premium than the S4.

Next, smartphones have been my primary camera for years now. Only downside has been lowlight situations. But with the One, it blew the S4 and my S3 out of the water. I never thought I would be one to value a camera, but that is the trend. Smarphone cameras must be badass.

Having front facing speakers is very awesome as well. Gone are the days of facing my screen down so I can hear music or to make sure my alarm is not muffled in the morning, or to make sure I will not miss in important phone call. The Beats technology is also a plus since my phone is my primary music player.

The screen is also beautiful, I always loved the AMOLED with the black blacks but this is comparable and looks like a real photograph in front of me,

Never liked sense though, it seems improved. Sure I will get used to it and the button layout and all that though. And if there are any things that tick me off I hope the development community can come up with some change.

Yeah those S features are cool to show off to my iphone buddies, but after the newness wears off I quickly flash another ROM anyways to escape all that bloat.

I have a thing for rooting for the underdog. My last phone was the Inspire4G and I loved that thing. Everyone and their grandmother seem to have a 'Galaxy' or an iPhone. I wanted to have something different while doing my part to help HTC take a bite out of Sammy. On top of that, the phone is #$@@%$ awesome.

My last phone was the BB 9810. AT&T offered me $100 for it yesterday as a trade in, it's gone. Now I have a flawless 4.7" 1080 screen and a pair of front facing speakers. Gotta love it.

Three simple reasons:
  1. The HTC One is really, really, really (IMO) much prettier than the Samsung.
  2. I had a fantastic experience with my last HTC.
  3. I had a crappy experience with Samsung support WRT my daughter's phone last year. Ergo, I won't be buying any Samsung anything for a while.

Good lord so even on an Android vs Android "poll" there's a ton of bashing. Why can't people ever just say I like blah because of X and not I like blah because that other phone sucks. Maybe I've just been in it too long but I'm finding more and more that all the anti this or that brand stuff is seriously rubbing me the wrong way. I came to this thread because I'm interested in the One (I currently have a Note 2) and now I remember why I was happy to step away from my Rezound after only having it a few months.
