Soak test for Droid Maxx

Then fixing the bug wouldn't help you anyway because you'll always be taken to a home screen that doesn't have apps that you use frequently. If you use more than one home screen a lot this is always going to be a problem regardless of what home screen it takes you to. And even if you use the example presented earlier where you use a third party launcher and set the home button to bring up the thumbnails of all the home screens it's still an extra step to get where you want, it's just a button press instead of a swipe.

I guess I just don't understand why, if you want to be taken back to a particular screen each time, set that one to be the main screen.

There's no right or wrong here, if it bugs you (no pun intended) then I can see how it's frustrating. But it doesn't bother me, and probably plenty of other people too. It just doesn't seem to be much of a bug, which usually implies more serious negative effects, like the sharing bug, which is likely a problem for many people because it's not a preference thing.

You pretty much just don't get it and its not worth arguing with those who think their answer is the best.

Indeed... The bug launches the screen previews until i disabled the home screen preview. This bug always impacts the swipe up for Google Now. Since it registers twice, the phone thinks you put your finger back on the home key even though your finger is sitting on the Google circle.

I definitely understand the frustration and IT IS A BUG. ... https://www.google.com/search?q=droid+maxx+home+button&oq=DROID+MAXX+HOME&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.7059j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=0&ie=UTF-8

So has anyone actually gotten the update yet? I still haven't gotten it.

Im beginning to think this update is for the razr maxx hd and they just made a mistake in the post....

Over on XDA, folks are reporting that it a minor patch to 4.4. The only thing they're seeing different is the white notification icons and a new radio build. Doesn't fix sharing bug. Doesn't fix home double-tap bug. Doesn't fix exchange bug.

So not 4.4.2 and no fixes to major bugs.

But for those who feel this is a problem and are not using third party launchers, I have a simple solution for you: put your most common stuff on the "home" home screen.

That is not the way the Aviate launcher works, to name one. Aviate really doesn't have multiple home screens - just one main screen and two sets of functions that slide from the left and right. The home screen is divided into three areas. Pressing home toggles expanding the top area on and off. On the Droids since the KitKat update, this does a double toggle when you press home - on then off (or off then on), making the launcher less functional.

It's not supposed to work that way - period.

Even on iOS, when you slide to another home screen and launch an app, when you press home, it first brings you back to that screen. It's only when you press home again while on that other screen that you are brought to the default home screen,

Android has always worked that way - home brings you back to the last home screen you looked at in the default launcher, and a press of home while on the launcher already then brings you back to the default home screen. That's the way it is supposed to work. If you showed the Droid to an engineer at Motorola, they would tell you that the home key is, indeed, incorrectly programmed.

It seems like you're taking personal offense to me presenting another point of view. That's your choice, but please don't accuse me of believing my answer is "best" when I very clearly stated in my last post that "there is no right or wrong here."

The forums are a place for everybody to share their opinions and offer suggestions, which I did. If you don't want to take the suggestion, so be it.

By the way, action launcher, in addition to being an awesome launcher with really useful features, takes you back to the home screen you started from, just like you want. I just tested it.

It is just a minor patch. I got the soak and all I noticed was the white icons. I can't say anything to it fixing any of those bugs, as I was lucky enough to not have them in the first place.

Yeah, this sounds wildly disappointing. I can't believe that there is anybody cared so much for white icons that they'd be happy with that over fixing annoying bugs like double home and the share bug. Perhaps this is just an intermediate patch (mostly for the radio) and then a bigger update is coming shortly.

I did read that David Schuster of Motorola said that an update to the Droids was being delayed by last minute requirements. Maybe the last minute requirements was that Verizon wanted the 2012 Droids updated to Kitkat before the 2013 Droids got 4.4.2. However, I'm done guessing, and I'll just learn to live with the fact that it's still a great phone and there's no way I'm buying a Droid brand going forward. Hopefully next year there'll be an X replacement on Verizon with a big enough battery. Or maybe I'll just make it easier on myself and get an iPhone next, because making your phone work with other things, and having it stay updated (especially with security patches), is a lot easier with an iPhone than anything Android.

flashed the minor 4.4 update. it fixed the home button issue for me.

Ok, thanks, that's great. I'm glad to hear it. That bug is so small but it's like a mosquito buzzing around my hear - a small bug that drives me nuts; that it happened in the first place, and that it took almost five months to get fixed.

The "home button issue" being the double button home register bug? If so, no it didn't. It's still there. I just tested it out a on a couple of different apps.

I just side loaded the update. I like the white icons (should have been here since day one, thanks Verizon) but I'm still frustrated that the transparent notification bar isn't there.

Hard to understand why a soak test for an update that is so minor.

I'm glad the razr hd and Razr Maxx HD got kit kat before we got another update. Those phones have less memory and probably needed it more than we did.

I have watched punit soni on YouTube. I'm sure they are listening to our requests and will handle it accordingly.

And furthermore if you really want customization or fox fi for tethering and want to be 100% sure you really need to take that into consideration before your next upgrade. When the time comes I'll probably switch to something not carrier exclusive that will have a root bounty. Or shell out for a dev edition.

If I wasn't able to take advantage of unlocking my bootloader I would be frustrated as many of you are. Phones are not cheap and it's not always easy to find exactly what you need.

Since when has it gotten KitKat....

So where do we go to sideload the update (and instructions, if needed, as I remember KitKat had some quirks to upload)? Probably somewhere on XDA I suppose. I'd rather not wait until it's pushed to my phone naturally.
