social feeds

I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere, so I'm hoping somebody here knows. I don't have the social feeds, weather feeds, or news feeds widgets on any of my homescreens, but they always show up under running apps. I hadn't been using them because I wanted to conserve battery life. But I'm wondering if I would see any additional drain if I did use them since they're apparently running already. Am I correct?

I don't use them but I would think they would use more as they will refresh and update. If they are not set up and linked yet when you do they will be pulling for info.
