Alright so I appear to have just soft bricked my thunderbolt. I was running Das Bamf Sense 3.0 RC4 but I wanted to try CM7. Went through proper flashing protocol and got the new ROM running. I then tried to recover my contacts using ROM manager but I messed up and sent phone into full backup restore. I just let it go and figured I would just flash it again no biggie. I checked back and the screen is black except for a dialogue box that says "Sorry! Process system is not responding". Can't reboot phone unless I remove battery and it won't boot into recovery mode. Phone turns on and does its boot animations so its not hard bricked but I have no idea how to fix it. Could someone guide me through this or link to an already existing thunderbolt guide.

what version of CM7 were you trying to flash? and what version of CWM / Rommanger are you currently using... I had this problem before... i wasn't able to restore any nandroids unless i was using CWM recovery version 3.0.2.5, anything higher than that and I was having major issue too... let mknow what your currents settings are and maybe I can walk you through this

If I were you I would boot Into Hboot and select recovery, then flash CM7 again from scratch. once you get that up and running... change your rommanger to version 3.0.25.(located under flash older versions of clockwork) then you should have no issues with nandroid backups then... let me know if this helps. or if I can answer any more specific questions.

How do I boot into Hboot?

How do I boot into Hboot?
shut off phone... if needed do a battery pull... then hold down the volume(lower) key and hold power button at the same time until phone turns on... then select recovery.

Try it again... pull the battery out for about 30 seconds... then put it back in... hold down the volume down button, a second later press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds, then let the power button up, then the volume down button... it should start a white screen called hBoot.

Didn't go into hBoot, went to the same screen it has been, though you did get the phone to turn on so thank you for that.

Then you are not holding down the Volume Down button all the way thru it... you need to power it off again... then hold down the Volume Down button, keep holding onto it, then press and hold both that and the Power button... hold them both for 5 to 10 seconds... then let go of the power button first, then the volume down button... you need to get to the hBoot screen to get to Recovery to flash any ROM.
