I can't find where to adjust the timing for the soft buttons back light... Mine goes off in just a few seconds. Where do I need to look? Thanks

I think that's consistent with the other Galaxy S phones. I could not find a setting on the Epic to change this. Keep digging and maybe something will turn up.

tap on screen to bring lights back on. There set to shut off quick. Why, I have no clue... just the way it is.

actually tapping screen does nothing on the fascinate. only way to get lights on is to press button

According to phils review on the epic he said it was tied to the physical keyboard back light settings. Well we obviously don't have a keyboard so thought maybe it was somewhere else

This kinda sucks. Such little things, but they add up to a nuisance of a device.

calm down. This device is still great. Sure there a couple of inconveniences but in the end the good far outweighs the bad.

Things could be worse. You could've got an iphone and have been left with dropped calls and a broken proximity sensor. I can deal with quickly times out background lighting for capacitive buttons.

Agreed. I am reading a lot less complaints of bugs in the first few hours in this forum than I have in others. The day is still young, but so far I'm not hearing about many of the bugs I was reading about initially for the other Galaxy S devices.

No offense, but that just isn't good enough sometimes. The more and more annoyances that are found for someone could add up to a returned phone; despite your objections that the phone is fine despite personal issue with things.

No need to bring an iphone or it's problems in here at all really.

I'm very calm I just thought I missed the setting somewhere and someone could help me out

I understand not everyone will be happy with their phone out of the box. Unfortunately I can do nothing about it. Well I can since I will probably root and rom, but thats not the point.

Complaining does nothing, especially for trivial inconveniences. If the inconveniences are too severe, then return the device and get something else. You can't please everyone. Great thing about America and capitalism in general there are other options.

I guess this would be a complaint of mine also. Wold love the buttons to be timed with the screen. Especialy since the buttons are in a different spot than my droid.

My take on it is this...it's four freaking buttons you'll get used to where the buttons are located in due time...

If you dock, do the lights stay on? I know on my D1, I had to use the LED hack to get the lights to go off but this caused the lights to not always come on. I would have to cycle the lights through the app sometimes.

I noticed yesterday on my Brother in laws Fascinate that the buttons are in a different order than the D1 as well. That will be an adjustment!

Easy to say when you have one phone. But going back and forth between 2 android phones that have the same buttons in different locations is a little harder.

This is my main complaint with the phone so far. It appears that the Epic has a setting (Keyboard Timeout) that remedies this for Epic users. No such setting for the Fascinate. :)
