Soft keys

I love the sense UI on my m8, but every time I look at a different android phone, I find myself lusting after the appearance of their soft keys (ex nexus 5, G3, etc). Is there any way to ONLY change that part of the phone? Any answers would be supremely helpful!

Welcome to Android Central! SoftKey Enabler can apparently do it, but you have to be rooted.

I know it is possible, I just don't know how. It may require root access and changing the images for the softkeys in the framework.
