So does anyone else think its stupid that Motorola kept the soft reset and the screen shot function using the same two buttons. Now every time I need to reset I take a screen shot. They should have used power+volume up for screen shot or reset

How often do you have to reset? I've had to reset once...maybe twice since I got the phone. I doubt twice. Probably once.

Well not often. I haven't had a problem where I have had to use it because my phone has locked up. But rather because I found its faster to reboot my phone instead of waiting for it to power down then turning it back on. I like to reboot my phone every 2-3 days.

It works... with the screen off, then press the buttons and you get the soft restart... with the screen on, do it and take a picture of the screen... easy. I'm not sure why you are complaining.

I'm not complaining. I just think its stupid to have to delete useless screenshots

Just hit the power button before you hit the volume down, and then hold for 10 seconds. No screen shot that way.

I have to reboot way more than I want to. Had to this morning because the phone was running hot and the RAM was way up again. I can not figure out why it's doing this. Getting so tired of it though. Never did it before ICS so this just sucks. Anyway, the guys are correct. Push the power button until the screen goes out then press it and the vol down at the same time and it will reboot without taking a screen shot.

hold the volume- and power button at the same time for 10 seconds. the screen will "flicker" and then boom, youre done.

Did you do a factory reset after upgrading ?

Sure did. Cleared the Cache twice too. One difference between what I've tried and what others have is that I left the Automatic restore setup and it reloaded most all of my apps for me. I have about 400. Maybe if I start from scratch I'll figure something out. The other thing I do differently is using Go Launcher as my UI with a Go Launcher Keyboard. I know that app is not a light weight app but for the most part it runs just fine. It just seems like occassionally or towards the end of the day the RAM runs up pretty high. Thanks for being helpful. Love the phone, just not sure what to do.

as OCD as i am i have learned not to keep an eye on my RAM, android is designed to run a high RAM consumption, it runs better actually with a high RAM usage.

you guys ever consider rooting and running titanium backup? its a paid app but it has saved my a$$ many times...

and rooting couldnt be easier than licking the Sprinkles off some Ice Cream...

400 apps is a sh** load. You probably have something running in the background eating your ram, I agree that android is very good with ram management, but if it's to the point where it is running too hot and locking up then it's not good. Probably a rogue app that won't shut down properly or something.

I never keep more than 50-60 downloaded apps on my phone, every once in a while I'll go into titanium backup pro and do a back uninstall of all the apps that I don't use often enough to warrant leaving them on my phone.
