Software update failed: Galaxy S6, Verizon, lrx22g.g920vvru2a0f1

Hi,

VZW downloaded a software update to my Galaxy S6. I started the install, but instead of the install completing normally, I got a text screen with what I assume is the name of the build (lrx22g.g920vvru2a0f1) and a bunch of menu options, including Reboot and various "install from cache," "install from ADB," "install from external memory," etc. I chose reboot. The phone rebooted and I got a message, "Software update unsuccessful - Sorry, there was a problem updating your SAMSUNG SM-G920V. No changes were made."

Any idea why or what to do about this?

Thanks!

- bill.

I had the same experience on my Verizon S6 this morning. Got the same menu after initiating the install, and also chose Reboot with similar results.

I started the install again by doing the following:
1) Go to Settings.
2) Choose System updates.
3) Choose Check for new system update.
4) If an update is available, choose Download Now.
5) Put phone into Airplane Mode, then choose Install Now.

It ran much longer this time, and when it finally did reboot I didn't get the operating system menu. The phone came back up in Airplane Mode when it was done and it showed a "Software update complete" message.

Does this OTA update fix the security hole StageFreight? I'm updating now. I hope so... I'm sick of having to download my MMS msgs individually.

This did not work for me.
