Because if 2.1 were to come out the 22nd (or the 18th or the previous predicted dates from sources on the internet) it would be announced by motorola like they said they would on their twitter

Agh, oh well. Just a worthless update then. I'm kinda bummed, all the devs that were all frantically working on Droid jumped ship for Nexus One. Over at Alldroid there is practically nothing happening. I was hoping this update might get us the hookup.

Ahh well. Droid still pwnz. 2.1 is some more voice features and the 'ol lady powdering her nose to look nicer

I have tried them all, depends on what you're looking for. the 2.1 ones definitely have more bugs and I haven't used any of them for a few weeks now, but some users over there are in love with them still, they were pretty solid for me too. I am now running the sholes.info latest release version 1.1 . This one is a 2.0.1 build tho, just with a lot of the apps from 2.1, modified home with 5 screens, wifi tethering, milestone multitouch browser and some other goodies. The developers put some kind of new cache in the system that some users are complaining about (saying it causes lag) but I haven't seen that problem. My recommendation would be to read up on the sholes stuff (Sholes or at all droid ) and maybe wait for their next release so they can clear up any issues with that cache.

Depending on how technical you are, you might want to wait if indeed teh 2.1 ota update is around the corner. Only say that because it will require a few technical know-hows and some small amounts of code to get you back to stock so you can safely receive the ota update. They have all sorts of posts and "how tos" to do all of this of course, but it can take up some of your time

Yeah no kidding. Totally worthless update that does virtually nothing at all, in any way whatsoever, and is of no benefit to us at all.

I know that looks sarcastic, but it's actually quite a genuine statement. What a major letdown.

Friends,

Do not lose hope...I still have a very strong feeling that 2.1 is coming soon. The facts are... the sdk is out and that motorola has "tweeted" that 2.1 is coming on the droid. I give it two weeks at the most. It could not possibly take much longer than that. The turnaround for this stuff I think is a month at the very longest.
