[SOLVED] Cannot write WhatsApp message directly from address book

I used to be able to see a contact in the address book (Contacts), and have an icon to jump straight to writing a message in WhatsApp.
Also, whenever I added a phone number for a contact, if that phone number was ok for receiving WhatsApp messages, the icon showed up after a few seconds. So this was also a quick way to check if a phone number that I added was good for receiving WhatsApp messages.

Now I don't see that anymore. Is there a way to recover that?

Using Android 12 in a Galaxy S10e.

[SOLUTION]
Open the Contacts app, tap the menu button (three bars on the left side), select the Settings option (gear icon on the top right corner) and turn on "Show 3rd party options". That should do the trick (as long as you're signed onto Whatsapp, of course).

Glad you got it sorted out! I don't think there's an option for that :( But I'll edit my answer to add the SOLUTION flag at least.

There is a way to convert this to a Q&A-style thread, but that can cause more headaches, because that format prevents anyone else from responding. I just added [SOLVED] to the thread title.
