[SOLVED] Side Loading Apps don't Update

When moving from the EVO to EVO 3D, I backed up my apps and then moved them to the 3D. But now those apps don't update in the market, are any of you having this problem?

Only the apps that I downloaded from the Market show up, I didn't have this issue with the OG EVO.

That's the way it works. Google uses the market to know what you've installed.. so as far as they're concerned, since you did it on your own, you haven't installed those apps. Not sure how you pulled it off on the original EVO but I've never had that experience

That IS the way it is ... Get it from Google then Through Google you get updates ... Get it through amazon, then through Amazon get updates ... Sideload ANYTHING and your on your own as far as updates unless your part of a tester group in which the dev will notify and send you the update .

Oh wow, it never was like that on my EVO, but I guess thats bc it was the original device I downloaded those apps on.

I used Astro File Manager, it has a APP BACKUP in the TOOLS section to backup your apps, then you can just transfer the apps by the SD or EMAIL or any method you choose.

I use to flash different roms all the time, I would backup my apps with Astro, flash new rom, then restore them, then the market would pick them up. But maybe b/c its the original device the market would pick them up. After moving them to the 3D, I guess I need to download them again.

on my evo it saw a few of my side loaded ones on the market(only the backed up ones from the market). but on the 3d it doesnt. not sure what changed but im with you

Yeh I believe somehow the market knew I downloaded the apps on the OG evo, so when I would restore after flashing roms, the market would pick up all of my side loaded apps. However side loading on the 3d, none were picked up. I just went and dled all over again...

Couldn't u use AppBrain to sync your device with the Market and then just execute changes?

Thanked, and yes. This does work. I've been moving between roms on the 3D, and if you install AppBrain and execute changes, it does sync everything up with the Market so you can get updates for all of your side loaded apps. Thanks!

Alternatively if you have root get Titanium backup. It will restore market links for backed up apps. This works after flashing new roms and full device wipes.
