[Solved] VirusROM Marketplace

For some reason, last week my VRMarket turned back into the regular stock Android market. It's kind of upsetting since I really liked the VRMarket style. Idk know why or how.

Until just yesterday it was still called VRMarket, but had been functioning as if it were the regular Android Marketplace (the app name finally changed back to "Market" this morning). Also, ever since it started functioning like Android Marketplace, the widget itself has been back to the green color, as opposed to the blue I loved so much, which I can't figure it out.

This isn't a HUGE deal obviously, but anyone know how to get VRMarket back short of reflashing or using a backup? Already checked the Android Marketplace and, shockingly, it's not in there. :p

Maybe your market auto updated? Try going to settings > applications > manage applications > scroll down to market and select > select "uninstall updates" and see if that works.

+1 ^^^^^^^Correct. The market apk was modified by the rom developer. It updated and you lost it. Only way to get it back is if the developer has a flashable zip of the apk or reload the rom. Once done, set the update to no as bkorver suggests. Then it will stay.

Good luck

After I uninstall the update I can use VRMarket, but it keeps reverting back to the normal market the next time I use it, how do I keep it from automatically updating?

Try freezing the market updater with Titanium Backup. This feature does require the pay version.

Good luck

This combo is the fix! Thanks fellas!

You can also rename it to MarketUpdater.bak or MarketUpdater.apk.old using a root explorer that will let you mount the system as RW.
