Just got my new Thrive today. WiFi is all set up, I can browse web and gmail. I can browse Android Marketplace, and can purchase and download apps. But I can't install anything? Everything I've tried just hangs on "Downloading" after I click install on the 'MyApps' screen. Tried a few purchased programs, Kindle Reader, Google Maps updates. Everything hangs and just sits there ...

Any ideas?

SOLVED UPDATE: thanks for the replies everyone (below), those are important tips to be done. My solution is a bit embarrassing, but since this might help someone else:

It was a [hardware] firewall issue on my home network. Even though HTTP / HTTPS / SMTP traffic and several other services were enabled, not everything was enabled ... Apparently the Marketplace downloads occur on ports other than 80 / 443 ... as soon as I relaxed the rule to allow "all services" ... bingo - everything worked. I overlooked this since all the other internet based activities were working fine

Re: Why can't I install anything?

Try going into Settings, Applications, Manage Applications. View All applications, and find Market. Click it and Clear Data and Clear Cache. Then try do download/install the apps again.

Make sure go to Menu > Settings > Applications and make sure Unknown sources is checked.

Make sure go to Menu > Settings > Applications and make sure Unknown sources is checked.

That is needed for use with the Amazon App Store, but the Android Market does not need any special permissions because it is a known source.
