Some Clickbate for Everyone

The kids at my school make fun of me for using an android. I work in a sea of kids who don't know what's it's like outside the matrix......I mean Apple products. I have tested and used them but never purchased an apple product. I'm too PC/Windows/android to use iOS. Stick with what you're comfortable with.

At this point with Android, Google could and should basically call all the shots. What would Samsung do otherwise? I think we are long past the days of any phone manufacturers attempting proprietary software.

Samsung even realized that in order to keep up with Google's introduction into the smartwatch world they had better adapt and accept WearOS as the uniform operating system, especially since it can integrate much better into the Android ecosystem than Tizen.

Now, that said, Google's first attempt at the Pixel Watch was somewhat of a flop, but (at least in my opinion) that's only because they opted to make such a small size.
That is the worst idea I've heard today. Allowing Apple and Google to dominate would actually hurt smartphone innovation not help it. There is a reason why, here in the US there are anti-monopoly laws for that. They were put in place because big businesses like US Steel and Standard Oil were "calling the shots" as you put it. It was stifling innovation and force other companies have to either do what the big companies say or get forced out of business or bought out.

That's the reason Android will be dead in the US in15 years or so. bECAUSE "HE'S A 10, BUT HE USES A sAMSUNG gALAXY".

Sometimes us dad's just can't win
Because us moms are the real " winners " ..... right??
They have a 58% market share in the US, which is pretty dominant, but only a 30% market share worldwide.

They do have quite a hold on us Americans for some reason though... it must be some kind of Black Magic
58? Only? Like I said at a BBQ, family gathering or wherever I'm like 1 of 20 something people there, making it what seems to be a 98% me against everyone else

We are a Samsung household and my parents have Pixels. My boss and his family are Samsung users, and I have more than a few co-workers that are Android (predominantly Samsung) users.

The only phones I liked as much as Samsung phones were the Lumia phones with Windows Mobile (formerly Windows Phone). Tied for second were the Palm Treos and Blackberries. The only Android phone I did not like was the HTC One M9. HTC took a good phone, the HTC One M8 and screwed it up with the M9. The only iPhone I ever used was the 6S+. It replaced the HTC. It was better than the HTC, but not as good as a Samsung or a Pixel. My iPhone like every other iPhone is just...meh...

That they can't do that. They and Apple, Microsoft are in trouble in the EU for trying. All they can do is make the best products possible and have people want to switch.
Perhaps I need to clarify something.

My comment about Google calling the shots was more aimed towards RCS integration, basically forcing manufacturers to accept Google's solution, since this has been so slow to develop, although it's also on US carriers.

I also never never directly supported what Apple does other than admit their approach was very smart based on how effective it has been.

It is just as tyrannical as Socialism and just as destructive.
See my previous post.

I agree that adopting RCS standards is a good thing. But Google forcing it down people's throats is a BAD thing. Whose version of RCS should we adopt? Why should Verizon or any other carrier be forced to do things Google's way? What if AT&T has a better way of implementing RCS? What happens if someone comes up with something better than RCS?

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.

Whether we like it or not, or agree with it or not...Google OWNS Android! Therefore, if any of the super OEM's doesn't like it they can always make their own OS as hard as that may be. I think Huawei has been forced down that road?

I don't care how they implement RCS, it just needs to be standard. Imo Google is losing to Apple and iMessage is a force to be dealt with. iPhone users can communicate the same way with any iPhone user, Android users can not, the other Android user needs to be using the same app to use RCS. I usually agree with not forcing things down people's throats, but RCS needs to be forced.

Carriers have had years to do this and they have put it off over and over for various reasons. That's why Google started Google messages, Google is getting tired of getting further behind Apple over something that needs to be standard. I say all texting apps on Android need to be using Google's RCS as the standard and they can skin it however they want. They need to do this especially now more then ever since Apple is going to support RCS sometime this year, making it easier to send videos and non compressed pictures to iPhone users and iPhone users can send to Android users.

Just my thoughts

RCS is a SET of standards. It's up the carriers, app developers, and device OEMs to decide whether some or all of them should be adopted, not Google. Allowing Google to force it down people's throats is patently wrong! It would be just as bad if Apple shoved iMessage down everyone's throats. Microsoft tried to shove Internet Explorer down everyone's throats and got kicked in the junk for it.

We live in a world of different and, sometimes, conflicting standards. Forcing people to adhere to or implement one standard on anything, at best, stifles innovation. At worse, it allows a small group of people to decide what is best for everyone else. It creates the dystopian world that Orwell wrote about.

Not when it comes to RCS. Carriers and third party developers aren't adopting it and when it effects your product that you are allowing open source is being effected you have the right to force it.
