Some interesting info for those concerned with quality

I received my Nexus last Monday from a Play Store order. It's a C70 and has lifting on the left side. I ordered a replacement on Friday but it's yet to ship. I'll followup up when I get it later this week (hopefully).

C70 here, and the only minor display issue I have is some light bleed, but it is barely noticeable.

C70 and screen lift top left side, that wasn't as bad as the other 20 I had already returned. This one also had a flickering problem that caused me headaches when trying to read or browse the web with it.

Returned it and giving up on ASUS period.

Ugh. I don't know what I could accept; a few hardware "blemishes", or fine hardware with software issues.

after thinking about it...

I'll take a small screen lift that doesn't affect the actual use, rather than software issues that affect how I can utilize the tablet. :(
It's not a big deal, I'm 99% sure if I just reboot my tablet, it would clear all home screen widget glitches. However I am a stubborn OCD'er and I want to see how long I can keep my tablet running without it powering off. As long as you're willing to reboot your device, you shouldn't have any problems. I think.

So far 478 hours and 20 minutes. :p

Just got off the phone with a CS rep. As always, take this with a grain of salt...

However, I asked them about the return rate. For the first batch--it's astronomical. This batch has an SSN# with C60 starting out. When they went on "hiatus" from selling, they switched over to the new batch--C70. Which, according to the info they have from Asus, should be devoid of the previous defects--flickering, backlight bleed, lifting, etc.

I have a C70 and it's absolutely perfect. If I were you folks who've owned 83 of these things, I'd (1) stop purchasing from where you are/have been, and (2) return your defective unit and order directly from the Play Store, making sure you get a C70 model.

That is all :).
how do you know if you have the c70 model?

I get some issues with light flickering on a white screen (usually in Chrome) and very noticeable lag and touch screen issues when playing games sometime. This is normal or fixable in a patch I hope? Usually a reboot fixes these problems and occasionally it will freeze, but it doesn't happen often enough where I feel like it's a defect. Still.. there are some kinks that could be worked out in future updates.

I'm sorry to be this guy, but it would be great if you could lay off the posts constantly discussing the 20 units you received that were all supposedly "defective." You've proved your point, whether you really returned 20 or not, whether any of them were truly screwed up or not. We all get how you feel about the N7.

Here's my advice: STOP BUYING N7s. If you aren't happy after 21 of them, it's safe to say you'll continue to find "problems" with the next 20. A new iPad is coming out soon..please just wait for one of those. Sure it will be just dandy.

I have a C60 with none of the problems users have been reporting. I must be a lucky customer. Knock on plastic...

I have a c60 that was given to me by my mother-in-law. It has a very slight screen lift on left center side. It rises just above the bezel. Probably wouldn't notice it had I not heard about screen lift. I can live with it, plus, I have no idea where she purchased it.:p

I have a C60, bought from Staples and the only thing I've seen is some screen flicker every once in awhile, usually in low light.

When you say "flicker", is it consistent across the screen? As in maybe the screen trying to find "just the right brightness" and maybe going a little OCD with the adjustments for a second or so?

I have the same thing, but many of the electronics I have had with an "auto brightness" have suffered from that particular little quirk. I don't find it terribly annoying, and it should be fixable via firmware if it ever reaches the top of the list.

Usually it's a matter of lowering the sample rate to a sample every few seconds, so the device isn't getting ridiculous trying to constantly adjust to small incremental changes in ambient light.

I have a C60 and had some creaking so I sent an inquiry to Google and they sent me a RMA process - if I understand it they send you one out then you send yours back, is that correct? If so I am going to absolutely send it back rather deal with a minor issue now than sit on a potentially defective product and let it get worse over the next year.

As soon as I get one that I'll be keeping for sure, I wanna try and outpace your time lol. Please keep me updated on the time yours lasts. I'm assuming you're not charging it too right? Seeing how long the battery lasts? That's what I was doing before returning the other one. It was a little over 150hrs I think.

I have a c60 and have the screen flickering. Called Google and they're sending me a new one. After it gets here and I'm all setup, I can send back my old one with the free shipping labels they emailed me. They were great. I'd recommend you call them if you're having issues.

Got a c70, the screen barely creaks just a bit on the left side, but is not raised. Also I have noticed the screen seems to flicker a bit but only when the backlight was at 30% or lower and there was a lot of white space on the screen. I honestly think it is more of a software issue with the tegra 3's power saving and auto contrast feature. Absolutely love this thing though. Coolest tech buy ever.

My first one that I pre-ordered July 11th showed up on the 31st, it would have been sooner, but I mistakenly moved some of the money out of my bank account after the funds hold went away from the pre-order; so I had to transfer the money back and update the order. That one showed up in what I thought was perfect condition compared to what others were experiencing. I fired it up and took advantage of the wifi at work to download everything I needed and played with it all day. When I got home I un-muted the device and realized that the speakers were blown. It was a C60 and that was the only defect I saw. Google sent me a return label and a new device(after placing another funds hold on my bank card). That one showed up also a C60 great speaker(for N7 standards) and no other defects. After setting it up the battery was at 20% so I turned it off and charged it for the afternoon. It never turned on again(yes I tried all the tips form here and XDA to get it going. Google offered a new one or a refund. Not wanting a additional hold on my card because the other one was still in transit, I opted for a refund. I went to my local Walmart that had a fresh supply and picked one up without the wait; a C70 that is absolutely perfect. I seriously don't go anywhere without it.

This really is a great device and despite the ridiculous shipping charges for a pre-order that showed up late and multiple early adopter defects--I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

I have a C60 and I have no screen lift, no screen flicker (although there is some banding you can see on the settings page - don't know if that's a defect). No light bleed that I've noticed. My only issue is that the screen occasionally becomes sluggish or unresponsive and bas a mind of its own. Not sure if that's software or hardware. Or if it has anything to do with the SSN#.
