I just got my nexus 4 yesterday with stock android 4.2.2

It is not rooted

The in call speaker volume is very very low...

Also, the ring tone volume is very low..

Other than that I love my phone..

Please help..

Then RMA it. Google has been quite good replacing defective devices. No sense in insinuating that there is some massive defect with the Nexus 4 line when you're A) the first person I've ever read about having those issues, and B) haven't even requested a replacement.

You're right, it is a brand new device, and as such Google will undoubtedly support it effectively.

Does Google RMA with a new phone or a refurbished one?

I just submitted an RMA for my 3rd!!! phone in less than 6 months. The first one didn't keep the data link enabled. Returned it within a month. The second worked fine until this week, then it started going comatose on me at random times. Wouldn't turn on or off with the power key; have to hold both keys to do a system reboot to get it awake. My son has the same phone and he also had the comatose problem and got it replaced. So they have agreed to send me another. They are a little vague about the warranty on this 3rd phone. The service rep said he would check to see if it would restart with this phone or continue with the original warranty. And yes, it has 4.2.2 and all updates, and I did a factory reset, but the phone went comatose the next day. I recommend anyone have the slightest problem to contact Google support without delay and request a replacement. I hate to say it, but even though this phone has marvelous specs, if it can't stay working for 6 months, there should be a recall. I was told if I had to return this one, they WOULD give a full refund if I requested it rather than send another phone. I think they are trying hard to keep their customers happy, at the expense of eating 2 or 3 phones per customer, but maybe they should have had SAMSUNG make it. My old Samsung Ace never had a problem and I still us it for ipod like functions.

in this case my dear "r02a010" i would seriously consider to check your installed apps as a possible cause which can of course be a lenghty process but the chance that one person has 3 non working phones in such a short time and from other info in your post it is very much possible that an installed app causes your issues. i suppose that your son uses similar or the same apps like you, another hint into that direction.

So far so good with my N4. Is there a list of apps somewhere that are problem causers? I would like to see such a list and remove any apps from my phone--if any. Thanks!

If you have a completely unrelated problem to the op's you should probably start a new thread about it

Factory reset did absolutely nothing to fix my problem. The exact same problems of this magnitude point to a serious problem. It's a brand new phone and not at all usable with these problems.

Rebecca, did you make any changes to your phone, install any apps? Or are you running the stock OS that came with the phone? I'm just wondering if any changes you made are contributing to the problem. Not saying you did anything wrong, just wondering if this is an Android/Hardware issue or whether some App is causing problems.

It has been over 30 days since I RMA'd and sent back my original NEXUS 4 phone. I have called Google no less than five times to get my refund for the cost of the second phone, but still have yet to receive it. I keep getting the run around.
The new phone has had a few glitches and the sound quality is garbage, but at least it works well enough to have a phone call.

I am not impressed at all with Google's Customer Service on the RMA process. First of all, why should I be charged for a replacement phone when the original phone crapping out was the issue. Goggle already got my money the first time around, why should I have to pay twice for their poor quality device? Yes, I understand the issue of those type of customers that lie to get another phone, but why should all customers pay the price for the few bad ones.
Second, the credit back process has some major disconnect within the Google system. I'm over 45 days out since returning my phone and still haven't received my refund.

BUY WITH CAUTION!!

What refund? When you RMA your device, it is replaced with another one. You don't get money back. For nearly every other user here the RMA process has been simple and painless.

The fact that you consistently bad mouth the product while creating two accounts is... fishy.

Buy with caution? No. Read forums with caution because, occasionally, posters like you pop up.
