Some of my Message+ received messages are marked with a gray "urgent" triangle. Why?

When I get text messages from certain Contacts, the Message+ list of Conversations on my Note 5 displays a gray triangle that has a white exclamation point in it, just below the time of receipt. Why?

The Senders can't explain it, either, so I'm hoping someone out there can enlighten us...
