So I'm about to head to work, when I notice a text from a friend. So I reply, and we end up sending a couple messages to each other.
Then, when I get home about 6 hours later, I go to show my boyfriend our conversation, because there was something there I wanted him to see, only to find that the only messages from today that are displayed are the last two of our conversation!!
So basically, the other texts of the conversation aren't there for some reason, just the last two of the conversation. Almost as if they never got sent in the first place, just magically disappeared!!
I am going crazy wondering over what the **** happened here, phones can't just delete texts by themselves, can they? Why only those messages are gone, and the last two, one from me, one from him, are still there???

Nothing happened during this time, after our last two texts were sent I noticed my phone had only 2%battery left, so I turned it off. When I turned it back on, for some reason, some texts went missing out of the conversation! With just those last two left.

I'm using the default messaging app from Samsung Galaxy S5 software. My phone is a Cricket Samsung Galaxy S5. No updates or anything else was happening at the time. The messages just plain disappeared. I mean how does that even happen? Why?....

What's more is I've been REALLY stressed lately, I'm going through a crisis in life right now, and have gotten little sleep today. And even though I very vividly remember sending the texts and having the conversation, there are no texts on my phone to back that up. So now I'm freaking out, I feel like I'm losing my mind, wondering if that even happened or not. I'm literally questioning my sanity, I've been so stressed and overloaded I don't even know what's what any more.
I know for a fact I did not delete anything, and I find it very unbelievable to imagine me accidentally deleting them while my phone was in my pocket or something.

So someone with some insight, please let me know...

At least let me know its possible for your phone to somehow delete some text messages randomly, or something. That would put me at ease, because this completely blows my mind.

Hi Juuiez,

the messages you've sent are SMS or others? Which app have you used to send those messages? (Whatsapp, Hangouts)

Could you send a new messages to your friend, asking him a screenshot of the conversation from his phone, just to be sure that the conversation really exist? :)

They were SMS, I used the default stock messaging app on the Samsung S5.

Is it even possible for this kind of thing to just occur randomly??????.....

Can't just ask him for a screenshot, that would be weird. What would I say, or what reason could I possibly have for him to take a screenshot our convo and send it to me, without it sounding really weird?

I am not using the stock app any more, but I seem to remember that in the app Settings there is a "Max messages" limit. You can set that for almost any value.

I know that Textra has that, but I don't allow auto deletes.
