Just thought id give a true opinion about my Galaxy Nexus. I thought this could be beneficial because there has been so may controversial threads in the GN forums as of lately.. I figure I could help out someone that is looking to get the galaxy nexus.

So to start off I have been a android user going back all the way to the Terrible Samsung moment. I then went Iphone for a while which got boring because IOS is boring to me now and stale. I then went to a Evo 4g which I loved and loved Sense.. I went sense because for some reason I still felt like Stock android was just flat out ugly through the froyo and Gingerbread stage... I know I may catch some heat about that feeling, but hey it my opinion. I then went to the evo ed because I liked the new lockscreen and the new sense paired with a dual core processor.. The Evo 3d got old reallly fast and had a horrible camera but I thought ehhhh Id hold out because nothing else was really tempting except the GS2 but I knew samsungs track record with updates and it has been HORRIBLE.. SO I decided to see what ICS and the GN was going to look like this year with all the rumors coming along at that point.. So finally I see ICS and OMG! ITS NOT UGLY ANYMORE.. Android has been revamped and now is what I wanted it to be.. Small things like being able to remove a single notification, the way folders have been done, aesthetics have been totally revamped.. Thank goodness.. So Im all in.. I try to be sneaky and get the gn before release date.. I get all the way to checkout and it wont come up in best buys systems.. So they loan me a rezound which was cool cuz I get to try it out... I use the rezound and its a great phone but at this point I realize im just over sense and Verizons Rezound is bloated to the T!

Now I have my GN and there are some issues. I dont drop calls but I do feel like there is a problem with the 3g to 4g handoff.. It is actually noticible sometimes so I do think thats an issue but to me its not that big of a deal to wait a couple of seconds.. Volume was a big problem for me but volume plus fixed that. I also must add that this is something manufacturers seem to be doing more often. My volume sucked on the evo 3d too.. Not sure how manufacturers let this slip but hey I feel if volume plus can fix it, its a software bug that they will iron out in the next update. Other then that I really have no issues.. Some say the radio is bad but I get 4g just fine, and when I do its blazing fast.. Compared side by side to other phones in the store and its just as fast and faster in speed tests. Now I know some are going to say "So your discrediting my issues, I really have problems" Im not my phone just doesnt seem to have them or im just not a picky person.. I'm not sure how some people exchange 3-4 times, because at that point id probably have a negative taste in my mouth and id just get a different phone but to each his own.. Ive been very happy with my release day phone. Battery life is on par with what I expect from a 4g phone. Although I think what they did with the Razr Maxx is a step in the right direction.

Now some things I love about the GN is the speed.. My phone is very snappy and unlike my sense phones which would have to redraw the home screens at times ect which was very annoying it doesnt do.. This little notification light is so freaking handy.. I never knew what i was missing. Now im like no wonder why blackberry installs that damn light. I think it should be on all android phones.. with all the colors the GN has.. Its nice to know whats important and whats not even worth turning my screen on for.. I like the build of the device but the back cover is annoying at times putting back on. Im loving ICS so far and I think for a .0 release they have done a really good job.. All my apps work just fine and im liking the overall feel of ICS. Only thing I need to figure out which is annoying that I cant figure out on the GN is how to make my browser only request the desktop view of sites.. But seeing as how this is a .0 release I understand there will be some issues which I think alot of people are overlooking.

My overall feel is its a great phone.. Are there areas for improvement? Most definitely! Should you expect to be patient? Yes because its a .0 release. Whwwww im done!

How many voice calls do you make in the average day?

I have no problems with it being, as you say, a .0 release, but I defy you to find "Be patient, it won't work right for a few months" in any of the Samsung, Verizon or Google sales literature.

Probably because it does work. I have yet to drop a call on the phone. My usage varies week to week, but I work over the road and use it in a variety of places across CA, NV, and AZ. I can say that I haven't had any of the drop calls that I had even with my Droid Bionic.

No cell phone is going to be 100%. I believe there are problems with the phone, but I do not think the problems are as bad as some would like others to believe.

Go to your browser and in the address bar type "about:debug" without the quotes and press go. then press the menu button (three vertical dots near the top right corner) and then press settings. You should now see a "Debug" option at the bottom. Press that and you will see "UAString." Select that and set it to desktop.

I probably make 4-6 voice calls a day.. Ive yet to have any problems.. Im saying be patient as far as some of the bugs people may find. There is bound to be some as I stated with the browser using the desktop site.. I mean seriously, in your sales literature would you put there may be bugs.. Thats with any phone.. That doesnt really make any sense.. Just sayin.. I mean is HTC going to say hey rezound owners when we release ICS there will be bugs.. Um no.. Even though there will be... There are things they cant test for in a controlled environment. As someone else stated the phone is far from perfect but in my opinion there are no bugs that make the phone unusable or want to send it back... "IN MY OPINION." Just putting that disclaimer because people have been really sensitive as of late....

yeah that works but it will eventually revert back

I make a good amount of calls and my wife used all of our minutes and then some last month....that of course doesnt count night and weekends.....so, in short, she uses the hell out of the phone....neither of us have ever had a dropped call.

The people who are having issues have real problems....but that does not mean that the rest of us do not have straight out awesome phones....My phone is a beast. Stop trying to rain on the op's parade....hes obviously happy and is not having problems.

See this is what i like... One bug fixed which is a big one for me! Now hopefully google and Verizon fix that for the people that say I shouldn't have to do that.. I do understand that view too because you shouldn't but this is what I mean about being patient with a .0 Release.

That methid will work but when you close the browser and android actually shuts it down it reverts back to mobile websites again.

Jafels.. Did you really have to ruin my hopes and dreams of my browser staying that way... LOL jk

Sorry brother....I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago and was so excited the first time I heard about that method...........and then was crushed when it wasnt permanent. I hope they allow you to permanently pick desktop in the future.....for now Ive gotten used to picking it from the menu.

The xoom browser on ICS has the same issue of not being able to request desktop permanently. This is an issue that has irked me for some time.

Yeah thats what I do but I hate that I have to do that everytime I visit a site..

They may never fix that. As the desktop sites contain so much data. The same reason for the 5mp camera. Constantly going to full websites and/or synching large photo files eats up data. You wouldn't want that on a tiered plan. It would be unnecessary. Never say never but I doubt it will be addressed soon.

That's actually all the more reason for them to push it through. More data=more money.... Except for the unlimited data users of course. It should be a choice, something I can set to work either way I prefer. The dolphin browser was perfect until ICS, so hopefully they will update that soon. Mobile sites look terrible on a tablet, with a few exceptions, and they're not much better on a phone. Google can and should fix this.

I agree, mobile sites suck.. And why tell me I should go to a mobile site, when in some instances it uses more data.. For example, the mobile wells fargo site and app are crap. They dont show all my bank accounts with them. Only checking and savings... So I end up having to load the site twice anyway, which is a waste of data... Choice is always better because you never know someones use case..

Yeah thats what I do but I hate that I have to do that everytime I visit a site..

Have you all tried it yet? It works on a per site basis, but I hated yahoo coming up mobile so I did this and ever since, yahoo comes up desktop every time
