Some videos play back with sound, others don't (Samsung Galaxy S4)

I've found that some of my videos I take on my phone won't play back the audio. The video plays fine but there is no sound, as if it doesn't exist. I can't seem to find any reason why some videos randomly don't have sound while others do.

All the videos are on PC right now and not the phone (as I don't have an extra card and run out of space quickly) but the problem was there on the phone, too. It didn't make a difference when I copied the files over.

I don't have the Lollipop update because it needed too much space on my phone, but I had this problem before that update came out, too.

Is there a way to recover the audio? What's going on here?

Did it stop recording sound after a certain date? Is it recording sound now?


Unfortunately there isn't a way to recover sound if it wasn't in the file to begin with

Okay I have a username now, but it's still me.

Anyway, it wasn't just a certain date. It didn't record sound for a few videos, then it worked again, then it stopped again... I don't know if it's not recording to begin with, or if something is wrong with the files.

I'm going through right now, and for example, I have one from March 6th that has sound, one from March 7th that doesn't, and one from March 8th that does.

This has just occurred for the first time with my Galaxy S6. I'm distressed to see there has been no answer.

I use my S6 to record videos for a YouTube channel. In merging and editing for the latest, I discovered that 16 videos, all together in chronological order, have no audio. These were all recorded on April 26th. Then 24 videos have audio; they start on April 26th and span a period until April 28th. Then, starting still on April 28th, there are 17 with no audio. Finally, still on April 28th, there are five with audio. I did not change any settings on either the phone or the camera app itself.

Loading the ones without audio into a media player, I get no audio. In my video editor, Cyberlink PowerDirector 14, the video and audio display on separate lines in the timeline. When I load these videos into it, nothing appears on the audio line; not even a straight line indicating zero volume.

I have loved the S6 camera until now and seen no need to buy a different one, but this situation has probably ruined the fourth and final video in a series. I would greatly appreciate some guidance with this.
