Someone help! Is my phone not secure?

So I noticed something very strange in the last week or so with my Galaxy S5. When I click on the address bar in Chrome, I get this message that pops up. It reads "Your connection to this site is not private". This happens with pretty much any site.

However if I manually type in https:// before the site, all is good.

What gives?!?!?

HTTPS is secure, HTTP is not secure. Evidently they added a reminder to the latest version of Chrome. Nothing has changed, HTTP has always been non-secure, and HTTPS has always been secure. Only the popup has been added. (We used to get that in early versions of Firefox when you went from an HTTPS page to an HTTP page, but I think they killed it versions ago, because it's one of those things that "everyone knows". I guess Google's thinking is the opposite - "everyone should be told this".)

The thing is though, if I go to bing.com, doesn't it KNOW it is a HTTPS? To get it to look normal, I have to manually type in the https:// in front of said site. ...yahoo, google, whatever.

HTTP is the default so it will always go to that. It will go to HTTPS if the site needs to be secure (login, banking etc)
