something that I'd love to see.. landscape to portrait switch.

Not sure if this is something that will ever happen BUT I'd love to see some sort of mod to give us a smoother portrait to landscape switch.. something (and the only thing) that I love on the iPhone is the smooth rotational switch between viewing modes.

Anyone know if something like this is coming down the pipes (cm7 would be awesome) or even possible?

Its possible, or at least should be. It would be sort of like a window animation type deal. I dont know if anyone is making it or anything like that tho, it'd be a lot of work id imagine.

That's one thing that drew me to the EVO shift the landscape to portrait transitions are almost seamless. Sense in landscape mode is nice to have maybe someone can port this to the EVO.

Yeah, that was the first thing that wow'd me when I saw landscape Shift Sense pictures.

3rd party launchers seem to screw up loading widgets, not so much the transition of apps/shortcuts.

I'm currently running a custom ROM (EVO-Nonsense from XDA, based off of aosp and gingerbread) and adw launcher that allows for pretty smooth portrait to landscape transitions. I especially like the homescreen in portrait. I'm pretty sure it's a setting for adw which I beliive comes built into CM....?? But I'm not sure, I actually just rooted yesterday and absolutely love it even though I'm still learning a lot. Hope this helps, but that was a feature I saw when I was browsing custom ROMs that made me hop on this one. Thinking of trying CM 6, but I have 4g in Boston and use it quite a bit so I'm leary...

ADW and LP both have landscape transitions. Try adding a bunch of widgets and see how the transition is. Compare that to an iphone.

The iphone does have hardware acceleration for the launcher, and I think that's a huge reason for the disparity.

CM6 + 4G!

There ya go, still some stuff that needs worked out but... 4GEES.

CM7 will have 4G built in eventually. The nightlies are pushing now.
