Does anyone know how to install Spotify on my new Android TV - Sony xbr75x850c

The app is not available in the store. Does anyone know why no Spotify; Android TV is supposed to have built in ChromeCast, but Spotify also does not see my tv.

It looks like there might be a 3'rd party Spotify app in the store on the TV, but i'm not sure how much I trust it.

What app store does the TV have? If it's some proprietary Sony store, then the selection will likely be limited. There might be some kinds of licensing deals where Sony is trying to steer you to some other service.

It looks like the standard Googe play app store.

When I go to the play store on my computer, click Spotify, and try to install it on the TV (listed as an option), it says it's not compatible with this device. I'm wondering why it's not compatible.

I've read some people have been able to "sideload" Spotify, but i'm not really even sure what sideloading means.

There are various reasons why an app might be incompatible with a given device in Google Play Store. Sideloading is when you manually install an app by downloading the app's apk installer file from somewhere on the web, and then opening it. The "Unknown Sources" option in Settings>Security needs to be turned on. Be careful when installing apks, because the sites where you can find them are usually not vetted for malware.

Thank you for the info!

I guess i'll just plug in my old Chromecast in to an open HDMI port and use that for spotify since I can cast to that with no problems. It just seems utterly silly to me that a new, very powerful 4k AndroidTV with built in "cast" can't do some of the things my 3 year old chromecast can without hacking it with some unofficial apk file.
