Sony Xperia Z3 Post Your Camera Pictures Here!

The Sony Xperia Z3 definitely has an underrated camera and could be further improved with access to manual controls which Sony could choose to include in the future. Also they could( and I hope they will) release a software fix to tweak their processing. Apple and Samsung use Sony sensors and their processing beats the pants off Sony's and they appear to be fine with that which is a shame.

Thanks RaRa85 - sorry I"m new on this forum but keen to crank out some nice pics. A bit concerned that you're recommending a tripod as I was just doing your average point-shoot pics. My colleagues iPhone 5 was getting better results...
Oh for point and shoot that's fine. I automatically thought of long exposure shots but for point and shoot pics, handheld will do but the issues stem mainly from Sony's processing algorithms than the sensor itself. Apple has some of the best processing algorithms making their 8 megapixel camera highly capable of competing with camera with larger sensors and megapixel count. The Galaxy S6 and LG G4 definitely have some great sensors with equally great processing to go along. Can't wait to see some of your shots.👍

uploadfromtaptalk1431044038833.jpg Took this quick pic of the kids' bouncing ball from the deck. Edited using Pixlr with the color splash feature.

Try shooting in manual at 400 ISO and set the metering mode to center and see how it affects it.

Thanks man, see sample posted. I swear though I took some pics at another event (similar conditions) and it was Ok..??

Yeah sometimes we just have to play with the settings. There's just no way around it. Auto mode is ok but Sony does not have the best auto settings unfortunately. But the camera is still pretty nice despite the processing shortcomings and you're very welcome.

hey there, i made a thread about the 'tap to focus' feature, mainly the absence of it in video mode, is there any workaround aside from installing Cyanogen camera or any third party app? thx

I think you have to rely on a third party apps for that feature. As far as I know anyway.

Mother's Day dinner prepared the night before by me. It came out better than I expected and very easy to make. My wife will enjoy it. Taken in manual. Edited in VscoCam. uploadfromtaptalk1431227036818.jpg

had to try the background defocus, but all i had on hand was this product placement...

Just an example of why we should get manual controls on the Z3. These pictures were shot on my old Lumia 920 using a tripod and an set ISO of 100 and manual focus to choose the focal point on the rails. I varied the shutter speed from 4,2,1,.8,.5 seconds to show how one variable can change the outcome. Just imagine how much better images we could get on our Z3 with a decently sized sensor and the same manual controls. These are straight from the camera.

Wherever you live it's a beautiful place.

I live in the UK but travel around France a bit and the EU in general.

The top two pictures are from Arundel Cathedral and Castle here in the UK.

The rest are in France - Palace of Versailles, Tancarville Bridge, Honfleur and Mont Saint Michel

Guess I should have put that information in there.

Some more pics of the UK.

This time from around Cheddar and Cheddar Gorge (yeah there's a town called Cheddar, yes it's where the cheese originates) and I went to the coast. Also visited some stones circle site at Stanton Drew. It's not well known. No post processing.
