Sorry I passed judgement too quick, this Note 5 is amazing

It doesn't matter whether you use cloud or sd card. The fact that we are are using a piece of technology that we think we own is open season on our "no longer private information". The moment you enter information on the mobile device Apple, Samsung, Google and other companies has free access to our data. We paid for the device, but we really don't own it. They (i.e. Apple, Google...etc) control our phones and they can collect info, modify settings, push (install) apps without us knowing or our permission. So, using cloud service is just a neat way to backup/store and retrieve data without having to re-install everything if you were to reset the phone. And sd card do backup data but, doesn't auto-restore. It is more secure if you encrypt all info, but that will cause other problems such as slowing the system down and take up more memory. Plus companies still can access the sd card for info as expected. The more we use the latest tech the easier and more data companies collect. We don't own the devices we pay for.
Backup and restore are pretty simple apps these days and anyone who wants to can use them and purchase an SD Card. It is about function and availability ie not being tied to an electrical outlet.

How do you get by without a credit card or a driver's license? You registered your car? Have a bus pass? Written a check? Registered for classes at college?

Time for worry about that is gone. They got ya!

The items you list above are only part of your personal data.

It doesn't bother me -- if anyone looked close enough they could find out things (like my job, my house, etc.)
If some people want to turn their entire life, family, financial info, etc. to public view that's fine with me too. I would rather stay as safe as I can control personally.

I've only had mine for 24 hours and I'm very impressed. I had a S6, got bad battery life and switched to the S6 Active. Was good battery life but just wasn't excited about it. So far the battery on the note 5 is impressing me. I had a note 4 and I just felt it was way too big. This might about the same size but it doesn't feel any better then my S6 active. Loving it so far.

I'm doing the same thing. I'm going from my S6 active to the Note 5, mainly because I won't be working outside full-time anymore and starting graduate school next week. :)

There is no benefit for a business or engineering professional using the cloud and many times they get there personal data mined and it slows the device connections down.

In your opinion there is no benefit of cloud storage for businesses. I would disagree because it makes my job much easier in many ways. I'm able to share or email any of my files from my phone, tablet, work pc, or from home whenever needed. I'm also able to update or access my files and do work where I need to. I understand that won't work for everyone but probably does for most.

I was in the exact same position as the OP. I didn't see any real benefit of getting or upgrading to this device. Now I am starting to warm up to it.

The biggest concern for me was the battery life. So far it seems like it is ok but I will wait a month or two to see if that changes at all.

I don't think we will have problems with "security", "private information","Yes for SD", "No for SD" for much longer. - I came across this new device that is coming out the end of this year and should solve said problems.

However, this is probably a New topic to discuss, but it kind of goes along with privacy and security, i.e. encryption and everything.

Last time I ever order through bestbuy and the only reason why I did was for the free wireless charger. ATT has been shipping all this week so I know I would of received mine by now and after reading this thread I can't wait. Oh well, cheers to this Friday!

Dude, don't trade in a note, you can trade in any smart phone as long as it works and doesn't have a cracked screen, if you don't have an older smart phone, you can buy a cheap one for 20-30 dollars on eBay. I am turning in my wife's old Samsung Attain and keeping my s4 for back up

I too am trading in a note 1. I don't use it, and its only worth $35 from at&t... And they will give me 200 credit for it. Im not gonna find a better deal than that. I need that 200 to pay off my note 4 next plan. I'm that confident that the Note 5 is worth it. Phone from drawer = free upgrade... Sign me up!

Well actually I was saying a business professional should be able to work with an app that can backup and restore a smartphone. The software for doing so is pretty easy to use these days and very robust.

I would have not problem using my company's data over the internet/intranet/vpn. It is my personal data I want to do everything possible to limit the exposure. Google, Facebook, Apple, etc. mine as much of your personal data as they can legally and illegally acquire as possible and sell it to others. If some people don't mind having that exposure that is their prerogative.

Our company has tens of exabytes of data we manage and keep as safe as possible with the best state of the market tools. Cheap or free cloud services are paid for by selling your personal info you place on it period.

Samsung really messed up 5.0, 5.02 pretty terribly but I'm sure google is to blame too but 5.1.1 is on point. I'm sure once all the devices get updated and the memory leaks and cell standby drains are gone Samsung will have a great performing lineup with the s6 line. The hardware is there that's for sure.

That is exactly my view. My note one has been my backup phone. After Friday my note 3 will be the backup.

I had to fight UPS to get my package but, I thank God I did. This is an amazing. It's the first phone I've had in a long time that I just had a smile on my face.

My Note 4: I felt badass. My Note 3: I thought I was a boss. My Note 2: I felt like an up and coming CEO. My Note Edge: I felt really cool and did have a smile on my face, especially matched up with the Gear S *so cool*. My Gold S5: I felt like the hottest kid on the block because Sprint just released the color. My S4: I felt like I was on top of the food chain. My S3: I still have and will not giving that up for anything. My S2: I started to understand what people were talking about after I switched from the HTC EVO 3D.

But with this one: I hate to say it, but it just works. Granted, I'm a sucker for Samsung and I'll be quick to point out their faults. I have an HTC M8 as my (now) secondary phone, but dammit it MAN! This is a sexy phone that works like a new champion racehorse and is as sleek as a supercar. Plenty of people don't understand what Samsung is doing, but I believe I do. This phone will blow your mind and it's not even on Marshmallow yet...OMG!

Also, is everyone online who "reviewing" or having "impressions" of the phone forgetting, it has Video Collage? I mean really...just killing the competition right now.

Hence, why I keep saying people should use the device before giving their final impressions.

I'm getting sick of people who keep using their first impressions as their final impressions without TOUCHING the device.

It's fine to have a first impression that's either positive or negative, but you absolutely MUST experience the device in person before coming to a conclusion.

Impressions change.

Well ive pretty much talked myself into the note5. Ill trade my droid turbo in friday evening. If the new droid turbo2 comes out and i have to have it too ill just add a line lol.

Ill prob get the 32gig, since i don't store a lot on my phone. Even w 22gigs after OS that is still plenty for me.

Now to decide.... white or black...

Also, would be nice if verizon carried the samsung fast wireless charger.
