Sound for Notifications Doesn't Turn on Switching from Silent to Sound Profile

When I switch from vibrate/silent mode to volume mode, all volume comes on (ringtone/touch/music) except for notifications. I have to turn on the sound for notifications manually. How do I make it a permanent part of the Sound profile and to always switch on when I choose that profile?

Almost 700 views and no responses... does anyone else experience the same thing? The LG G3 did the same, and the Samsung S4 does too... HELP!
