AC Question

I bought moto g3 as it launched. From yesterday its speakers are not working and I m unable to listen songs, Alarm , caller or message tones. Please help me to fix this problem. I don't want to go to service center as they say that its inbuilt battery so we have to heat it then only it can be opened and problem can be solved they also said that may be due to heating the sides of the mobile to open up may damage the screen.
Please fix this problem

Welcome to Android Central! Can you hear sounds if you use wired or Bluetooth headphones? If so, then the speaker has probably failed. If you want to use the speaker, then you'll need to get it fixed. Contact Motorola for warranty repair.

Hi,
I am having kind of similar situation as described above, but would say Speaker is working partially, i.e, cannot hear notifications or call sounds or music in inbuit music player, but when I play in VLC player it play perfectly fine with normal Audio as desired.

IS there a way to fix this??

This is not the same issue, if you can get some sound out of the device. Check your sound settings for each different volume level... If that doesn't work, I would do a factory reset and test again, if it fails after a factory reset then it should be returned to Moto for warranty service.

Have you submerged the phone ? Or got the speaker wet somehow ? It happened to me when i got the speaker wet and for a few hours it didnt work, until it finally got dry.

I had the same problem after 2 months: no external speaker sounds, but ok thru headphone and BT. Maybe a coincidence, but it seemed to fail after update following Marshmallow bump (?). Disabled BT, no go. Checked all sound settings, all ok. checked all "Do Not Disturb" settings, no improvement. Ran factory reset, no go, went thru troubleshoot with my cell provider (#TingFTW !), no go. Ran troubleshoot with MotoCare, including another factory reset, still no sound. Got the go ahead to return the phone for replacement: bad speaker. Replacement phone OK so far.

I too got a same problem I just switched the mobile of and then turned it on again if worked for me happy ☺☺☺

I've literally had this problem today and it's not getting any better, but it's a bit different from other problems described here.

The phone worked fine until afternoon today when it basically kept on vibrating on my bedside table, but wouldn't make any noise. Notifications worked absolutely fine until then, but sound stopped. So I investigated. No "Do Not Disturb" mode on, all settings set to loud with max volume yet no noise made. I've put on a song on Spotify, no sound. Strangely enough, when I plug in my headphones, everything works just fine. So I thought it's some sort of "headphone mode" but there is no such thing in the settings. I also called someone to find out whether I can hear them and the speaker works just fine with that. Therefore I assumed it must be some sort of software glitch - ran a factory reset. No dice. Turned the phone off and on about 6-10 times.

I have absolutely no idea why this happened, but now Im left with a factory version of the phone after having spent days on customisation and I've also lost my SanDisk memory card content, because you need to format it every time you run the reset.

So to summarise:
- can't hear notifications + ringtones or sound from apps
- can hear everything just fine with headphones in
- speaker works during calls

Not pleased. Anyone got any solutions? Would be much appreciated.
