Special 'Bensen approved' cables & adapters needed for use with slow 5w chargers?

For safety with chargers we have always been told to use 56k ohm cables of USB Micro to USB-C adapters, so as to not fry our phones. Does this apply if we are only using an older, 5W brick? Or should any USB A to USB C cable/adapter be okay?
