speck candyshell or otterbox commuter?

You know what get over it .... You don't like the review fine then buy what you want.
Don't you dare judge me on what I did. I know what I did and with who's phone I did it to. And if any of you were not so busy being perfect you would have read that it was from a inch or to on to a counter to hear how it sounded. Believe me I have more common sense than any of you and I know how to do things to get a desired result with out doing any damage.
Have a nice day you judging whining jerks.

Well thank you for calling me a jerk...

Again it does matter if its your friends work phone. Its the principal if the thing. You dont do drop tests on others phone. I mean if they knew about it then sure thats one thing. You dont need to agree with me. If it was me and I found out a friend did that to my phone? I'd be pissed as all hell. Just saying

Now moving on and getting back on track wit hthe thread...

Case designs DO change. Style and materials are just the beginning. For example! My HTC Evo and Evo 3D are not made with the same materials. They both did a great job protecting my phone but I felt my Evo 3D was made better. Design was still there but it was a little bit thinner! Then my HOX Otterbox Defender was the same way. MUCH better. And I got the cases only 9 months a part. Thats my only point. Companies do change design and things. For the better we can hope right? So its still best to test the case that you want to buy. Thats all I was saying. (Or youtube video)

There is no reason to be rude when all I did was simply disagree with how you tested your ideas. If your tests on the iPhone made up your mind then really the post is not needed? But I understand that you still may wanna hear others ideas. But keep in mind that their ideas may not be the same as yours and may even disagree with you...Point and case.....

I hope things go well for you with whatever case or road that you may take!

Cheers...

In order to bring the thread back online (seriously people, this is just about phones and cases, not life threatening) the Commuter is the way to go :)

Now, I'm off to see when I can get a Defender ordered and delivered.

I am in the same boat! I have been waiting it out. Right now mines naked and only got a screen protector. However they did add the realtree camo one. SO they are working on it, it seems.

I might get the gray one unless I can get the black one with my work discount locally. (Save $12 or so from ATT.)

Either way I am excited about this case and I have been on track with the thread! :P

Cheers...

Ok so I got hands on a speck candy shell last night ( on a iPhone ).
From the pictures I have seen of this case I really likes the idea of the extra hard case protection.
However when I dropped the phone on the counter ( owner not in room of course ) a few times, I noticed that the phone took a lot of shock because the hard plastic outside provided no give.
Even the rubber inside did not help cause it is a pretty thin piece, as compared to a full tpu style case.
In the end..... this is not a bad case but it is a little expensive. I do not feel that gives the protection of a tpu case that is half the price.
Anyone agree or disagree?

hey, i have a speck candyshell for my INcredible. have used it many times and have dropped it while out running in the speck too. GREAT case. phone was fine. I'm not sure how you saw whether or not the phone took more of the impact or not, but in my experience, the speck is a good case. maybe not as protective as the otterbox, but for the "slimness" that it offers over the otterbox, it could be a good choice for many.

i am deciding on this case or the fabshell, or a tpu case for the time being. i like the candyshell a lot, the industrial design is soo nice. it's well made and isn't too bulky. however, because it is glossy, you will eventually accumulate scratches. the fabshell seems like it offers almost as much protection as the candyshell, but doesn't scratch. however, both cases are relatively difficult to remove, (which is good), and being a new phone, i'd want to show it off w/o the case, w/ the case, etc, and maybe a TPU case, like the Amzers or Cruzerlites, will be good for starters. i love TPU cases, the darker ones hide scratches INCREDIBLY well, my smoke argyle case , amzer, still looks new to me. although, i would be sacrificing drop protection. maybe this speaks for the build quality for the Incredible more than the protection that the tpu case offers, but i've dropped my phone plenty in the tpu case, and it has protected my phone well.

maybe the solution is that i just gotta be less clumsy. ;)

Glad your dinc made it through some hard times in the candyshell. I do think that the dinc was one of the better phones at taking a beating.
I dont think that the candy shell is bad, just that tpu may be a a bit more shock absorbent. Good luck with the new phone, since no matter what is on it, angle is everything.
I'm gonna check the candy out once I get the s3 also .... I do like the look.

true. i am very fortunate that my phone survived the falls, and that it didn't hit at a bad angle. that's why i don't really like the "drop" tests. if they wanted to do some serious drop testing, they need to do it myth busters style and to build a machine that ensures the phone hits the same angle every time. ever see the "jelly side down" episode?

i gotta stop contemplating cases and just gotta go guy one, now...

What are the main differences in the two otterbox cases and which do you guys recommend?

Is the back of the case slippery? That's what I've never liked about those cases...

um, i guess i could say that the back is slippery, but usually when i grip the phone the sides are in my hand too, and that part is not. however, that's the droid incredible, so a bigger phone might more of a problem? less side grip because of its size?

also, if you tend to have dry hands, then it could be more of a problem.

This case is best so far, seidio active, easier to install, quicker to remove, puts hard plastic in corners where it should be.

No contest. The OB Commuter. Had one for a week before I got my Defender.

Great looking case! It's the silicone in the edges loose? Or a good tight fit? For thick total is it?

very snug fit, easy as pie putting on and taking off. I almost broke commuter getting it off. Seems it puts a ton of stress on side buttons when taking on or off. Almost 9/16ths thick. IMO Otterbox failed as far as buttons go.
