speech to text not working

ive never used speech to text on my phone... i just tried to use it tonight for the first time and it gives me the error messge "audio problem" i tried googling what the issue could be and ive tried clearing the data, ive tried disabling the voice seach and enabling it again, ive tried turning my blue tooth on and off... gps on and off, restarting my phone.. everything and i cant figure out the problem.. i have an LG motion from metro pcs... my phone is currently off but i use wfi and my wifi has full signal... i have no idea what else to try..
