I need something to spice my Droid up. I have been waiting for Froyo but I don't know when it will be out. What should I do? Any cool apps or anything?

Your lucky because I just read your getting 2.2 July 13th my kids are laughing at my incredible now.

sent from my badass incredible

You could root. Try some different ROMs. Experiment with a few Home Replacements...

Yeah, go ahead and root...if you don't mind having to wipe your phone and lose all of your application's data.

Android: 2.2 (Froyo)
BaseBand: C_01.43.01P
Kernel: JDLFG's Froyo 800mhz (2.6.32.9)
Build: BuglessBeast v0.4

+1 more for ADW. I'm able to comfortably squeeze 30 icons on one home screen. You can get as extreme as 64 icons on one page.

I also heard that same date for 2.2 coming out. Ive been putting off rooting since I first started hearing the rumors of 2.2. If it doesn't happen on that date I'll just bite the bullet and root.

I like my stock setup alot, and I have it customized just right so it works for me. I am looking forward to what Froyo is supposed to bring though so we'll see.

Better Cut

I have a question for you about Better Cut. I use Better Cut all the time, but for some reason at the moment... it won't allow me to make a new shortcut for the Phone app. I previously made one so I know it used to let me. Do you have this problem?

Try LauncherPro as well.

I use LauncherPro and it is pretty slick. Give it a try. And about rooting, so long as you follow directions well your phone will be fine. The possibility of bricking your phone is there but it is very slim.
At this point when froyo is right around the corner you may as well just wait for the OTA update.

You can backup and pull the app info off of the backup if you are really that worried about it. I pull CM nightlies every other night so its not a huge deal for me.

Also you don't have to wipe your phones data to just root busybox and sprecover/clockwork recover your phone.

I would also advise ADW.

It doesn't require you to hack your phone.
It gives you a crazy amount of options.
Its 100% FREE!
And I have bench-marked it against the other home replacements and it is by far faster and more stable.
