Spooky! Google knows what I watch on TV!

Is your TV on your home network? If I open Google now while I am watching it sees my Sony on the network and "listens".....

Not mine, lol! For some weird reason Google so far suggested titles I must have searched as far back as 7 months ago.:D

Try telling Google to "listen to TV." It will listen and tell you what program you're watching, even if you are on commercial.

Hmm it isn't working. I may have to reboot, I had to once last night. I think latest search update may have been buggy.

I know why it didn't work... it was about to start downloading the Google Drive update. Last night it stopped working right before it downloaded the Google keyboard update. I'm not sure why it should but I've seen a lot of reports of problems with Search. Hopefully the next update will fix it.

Has this happened to anyone else? Google Now just gave me a list of TV & movies I watch or have watched and asked if I wanna watch now!

How do they know... :eek::confused::eek:

More than likely, Google also knows what color underwear you are wearing... :)

I intrinsically like the idea, but I have turned off Google Now, location tracking, the whole lot as I enjoy getting the info myself, not relying on something doing it for me.

I use Google everything just because I love the integration and having everything in one place....
Obviously I'm the opposite. My purpose is to get work done, entertain myself, and go online, it just happens that I don't think I need all Google services to do these.

Let's call that philosophical difference :).

No... I don't use Chromecast and I have an old and very dumb tube TV...

I also have an east facing window... my view is blocked... :p Did you know Ed Snowden had his windows all boarded up when he lived in the US? I wonder what else he knows... :D:p::D

I'm sure he knows more about the spying technogy out there in secrecy. I'm in the same boat, my iPhone 5 recently started acting weird. Apps launch at will, the other day my camera flash turned on by itself and it also starts playing music on its own.

I wonder how many sociopaths these intelligence agencies hire so they can be having masturbation fantasies looking into our phones. I wonder if they spy on teenager phones for example people sexting and then have a then on.

In the case of the OP it is the his google metadata linking objects of association to him, the bad thing is that the spying agencies now have access (practically with impunity), to access this data (sorry no source).

Yes, I know. I read something about spies listening in to people and watching them via their own phone's camera and microphone. It's more likely to happen with people the spy knows, I'd bet.

Still even if this is paranoia it's not without plenty of cause. We shouldn't tolerate the loss of right to privacy without our consent.

In the case of Google I can deal with it for a while because I know it's happening and I gave consent. You can use security/privacy settings in the phone, if that helps at all.

In the case of your iPhone though that sounds more to me like a problem with the screen sensor or such. Unless someone from the NSA knows you??

Yes I have read too, they are not spies (James Bond style), they are probably regular employees who have good programming skills and are hired by computer companies and these guys just probably abuse our data just to have fun.

thank you I will check at the Apple store, it might be the digitizer sensor acting up and need a replacement. and no, I don't know anyone that would know me at any of those places, I'm just a regular Joe who does clerical work.

Yes but so are they. Even though any of us aren't aware of knowing one of them, one of them can absolutely know us. You're right, I bet a lot of them are sociopaths.

About your phone, I read in a Xiaomi forum about phantom touch problems on a bunch of MI 2 and MI 2s phones. I don't know if anyone's phone was playing music and taking pictures by itself but those are Android and yours is Apple so, I'd think it's possible. :p:o

Correct, look at how many people now days use their smartphone for so many things, including sending naked pictures, love conversations, and or simple pron watch (to know your habits), and some of these computer geeks with government clearance are having fun with our information/data :)

Yes, I'm sure these happens. Put anyone of us in their places, what would we do with so much erotic information LOL not only that, but the fact that people may save pictures, private passwords and conversations that they have the perception that it is "private", not that some sociopath is reading, viewing them :)

Hahaha! I don't do anything I think is private on my devices. And the police know it... ;)
