Have the HTC EVO V 4G through Virgin Mobile. My son had the LG optimus elite. His works fine at my house. The EVO sometimes just sits on the dialing screen and does nothing. Also when trying to send texts it will say "general error" or "radio interface resource shortage". Getting very annoying for a $300 phone. Any info?

radio interface resource shortage = Poor service or service was disrupted. There's nationwide issues right now.

Yes, it's not the phone, it's the service you should be mad at.

You know what they say, all toasters toast toast.

My wifes evo gets that general errors also along with the radio interface, but a lot of times she can text/call despite the error/s

Idk about calling, but I know that it really messes with the sms.

It's a Radio software issue, try updating your prl that seems to fix it for a couple days for me.

Apparently htc knows about the issue and is working on a fix. (This issue is probably the hold up for the ics update for the Sprint 3d)

Yep - update worked for me as well -

Setting - system updates - update prl
" " update profile
" " htc software update

really the second and third ones up there are extra but why not just updatre across the board.

this fixed both the dialer and texting issues for me and my wife

Just a quick update on this...

still having major problems. I've done all the updates. Every day I have the issue where the phone either can't send calls/texts and most times doesn't receive them either. Sometime the texts don't come through forever. This is the third VM phone I have used at this location. This is the only one that has had a problem. Son is using the LG Elite and has NO problem.

This is incredibly irritating. Probably just going to return the phone and go with another carrier. Tired of this BS.

Ok so - I know I stated above that the prl and profile updates seem to help me but I am still having problems as well. If you are still within your return period and you can't get it fixed at the very least I would suggest you return your phone for a full refund and then by the exact same phone over again to extend your return period.

I have been playing ring around the rosie with virgin mobiles not so stellar customer service and they keep insisting that they fixed the problem with some updates on my end. I have not had the issue in a few days but I am hesitant to believe that it has been resolved.

The reason I suggested return is because I have found that they will not return a phone under any circumstances if you're outside of the return period. And I had a helluva time convincing them to even send me a replacement for this issue.

It seems pretty hit and miss but the fact that my wife and I are both having this issue and we never had this issue with our optimist these makes me want to consider trying the htc one V. Unfortunately I am outside of my return area so getting them to return my phone for money or swap for a different model is just about impossible for me.

You guys are certainly not alone on this. I've been having this issue since I bought the phone. Same for my wife. It is getting so annoying. I actually considered returning both phones within the 30 day time period, but I thought for sure they would've addressed such a serious issue by now. It amazes me that nothing has been done yet to get this fixed. Sometimes my text messages don't get sent until several hours later, sometimes I don't receive them until several hours later. More often than not I have to reboot the phone to fix. Updating PRL and other things no longer work. When I go into this one menu, I can see that it's switching its preferred network. It goes from CDMA PRL to WCDMA or other varieties.
