Sprint + Evo Pricing = Runaround

Not to add any confusion, but you can have the premier upgrade on two lines, My wife and I do. Her phone is he main phone, and they put it on the premier upgrade plan 2 years ago, and mine has been on it for at least 5. I have been changing my phones out every year, and she has the last 2. I have the $99 unlimited plan, and she is on the $69 unlimited data plan. We have been customers for over 14 years.

The reason you have premier on both lines is you are not sharing minutes or on a family plan -you have two standalone lines so both lines are eligible in that scenerio.

Sounds like you have 2 different plans and therefore 2 different accounts. That's the difference.

I have 5 phones on a single account and have been a customer for about 12 years. Only 1 phone can be set as primary and therefore eligible for the 12 month upgrade. The other 4 fall into the standard upgrade cycle.

That's what I was told when asking about Family Plans. But when I asked if whether a Family Plan with 2 Evos as the phones would mean both were eligible for premier status, Sprint's rep said all Evo phones would automatically qualify that line for premier upgrades. She said one would be primary, but the 2nd would still be eligible since it's an Evo. She said the combination of Evo plus additional $10 Evo charge is what qualifies both lines as premier.

So is there any confirmation on the $449 sprint retail price? i havent found any source (other than forum comments) that point to this price. BB shows it as $599, & the Shack show it as $499.. I would be happy to pay $375 after half upgrade... anybody know for sure?

So much mis information out there.. I work for sprint.. let me help a little here. If you are elig for the 75 dollar rebate that comes off the full retail price of the phone which is slated for 449.99. NO mail in rebates are redeemable if you are only elig for the 75 dollar rebate. so phone would come to 374.99 plus tax.

No there is no official confirmation of the Sprint price yet for a purchase---only upgrades. They will not disclose the full price until Friday. Many people think the price may be $449 and that may be true but there is nothing official from Sprint. Who knows, maybe today some info will come out.

Yikes, the amount of mis-information is incredible. (ha.. ha.. pun.. oh well)

Seriously, if you dont know dont post. It only confuses others. The guy above is correct, NO DISCOUNTS AT ALL other than the 75 off retail base.

Just called a few stores and the EVO is in the system today. Purchase price without contract is $449.95. All the stores I called actually agreed on the price. Amazing!

They are planning on opening at 8am as is common knowledge but the store close to me said they may open earlier depending on the line.

None of the stores thought they would have a big enough supply to last the entire day so get there early if you want one.

I will be in line early tomorrow to get mine.

Are you sure about that? Everyone I talked to said it would be whatever the cost of the phone will be (since everybody I talked to said that the OFFICIAL full retail price is yet to be announced) minus the 75 dollars if you one year since the last time you renewed. So if it were to be 449, all you can subtract is 75 to get to 374.

i got mine from rs and i am paying 199.99 i bought my pre last june on the first day. so its been only a year and i got the full 150 off.

I am not a premiere customer because my father-in-law (who is primary account holder) went out of good standing and we lost premiere status.

I was told I only have the $75 discount, not the full $150. :-(

thank you all for clearing this up.

You'll pay $275 then. Get it from BB or RS so that you don't have to wait for the $100 rebate.

I've been with Sprint for 10 years, 5 with 3 lines and 5 with two lines.

I've gotten the full upgrade pricing + rebates 3 times in 21 months, A Razr2 in Sep 07, an Instinct in June 08, and a Pre in June 09. I'm going to get the EVO the same way.

I purchase the phone and just have them bill it to the account then I give Sprint a call. I politely explain I've been a customer for X amount of years and ask what can they do for me. I get transferred around a few times but it eventually gets done. Eventually, a manager agrees that kicking back a couple hundred bucks against the $20K+ we've spent over the years and extending the contract to get another $2K is worth it.

Of course, the internet, so be skeptical, but give it a shot. Sprint is all about pulling strings to keep customers happy the last few years.

WRONG WRONG WRONG GBHIL

Don't quote things when you don't know what you're talking about.

You DO NOT get the $100 mail in rebate unless you're eligible for the FULL $150 upgrade discount. You get NO nail in rebate if you're buying it outright or if you're only eligible for $75 off.

That's right. There is NO mail-in-rebate for those who are eligible for the $75 off. Your TOTAL DUE will be $374.99 + tax

You must be a lucky SOB or a good schmoozer. I have 5 lines for over 10 years. I'm Premier but only the primary gets upgraded. I call and they say Tough **** that line is not eligible for an upgrade until 22 months.

Believe me, it takes some perseverance and a lot of transfers.

One key is to search the net for an alternative customer service number, such as the one for corporate accounts. The reps on that end are able to pull a lot more strings than if you dial *3 or whatever from your phone or dial the general customer service line.

Whatever you do don't threaten to cancel your account. They'll call your bluff and note your account and it will be hard to get them to do anything for you in the future.
