I have a rooted GS3 running 4.1.2. I know that Pdanet is pretty much the only app I can use to tether that actually works without have to flash another ROM. I was wondering if anyone kew other apps that work on sprint or if there are ROMs that dont completely change my phone and are still close to the stock ROM?

This should work with the stock ROM, as long as you're rooted: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...652-wifi-tether-jellybean-here-confirmed.html

Read the whole thread. Different settings seem to work for different people, so you may need to play around and try different things.

As far as the ROM, MOAR, installed without any customizations, is pretty darn close to stock. It gives you the option of a ton of customizations, but doesn't force much on you. If you really want to stay close to stock, I'd install version 4.01, rather than the newest 5.01: [ROM] [MOAR] [MD4] Smooth / Modded / Maddness / Sick / v5.01 [06.17.13] - xda-developers (click on the "Click to show content" button under //Older Versions.)

It's faster and smoother than stock, btw.

I really appreciat it. I was already checking out M.O.A.R. I saw a few vids on it featurea but how do I actually flash i

First, which custom recovery are you using?

Second, if you're not sure of how to install a new ROM, I'd ask why you want to do so. It is possible to hard brick your phone (although if you only flash MOAR that's unlikely). But understand that installing a ROM isn't like installing an app. If something goes wrong, you can't just uninstall it.

If your only reason for flashing a ROM is to get free tethering, try out the TrevE mod that I linked in my post first. It should give you what you need.

What do you mean it's not there?

In the toggles that appear when you slide down the notification shade, do you not have a toggle for Hotspot? If not, you can control which toggles appear in Settings / MOAR Mod Control / Toggle Control Option. Tap the toggle to turn it on, then pull down the notification shade and tap where it says "Hotspot Activated." Tap the Configure button to set it up.

I've only been able to get it to work by tapping Allowed devices and entering the MAC address of the computer I want to connect to the hotspot.

Do you have some other app that's using, or trying to use, WiFi? WiFi can't be used to tether at the same time it's trying to connect to a WiFi hotspot. Make sure WiFi is turned off when you try to start the hotspot. And make sure nothing on your phone is trying to connect to WiFi.

What happens if you try to turn it on using the toggle on the notification pulldown, instead of using the settings menu?
