Sprint HTC One

Update to my previous post:...
Went to a different Sprint store and inquired about supposed HTC problems. This was the response (ad libed because its been a few days and I might have forgotten EXACTLY what they said...)
HTC Sense is very intense and it stresses the processors, thus stressing the batteries...
The batteries after updates cannot handle the loads causing issues and failures...
I asked if Sense 5 was looking like it was lighter, thus not having said issues... They kind of looked at me like a deer in head lights.
They said that at the repair centers, HTC phones are the most brought in...
Continuing to tell me that if I wanted a good phone without worrying if its going to have problems, get the S4...

I'm only posting this because I wasn't all that impressed with the S4. All that airwave gestures will probably frustrate me as I try to touch or think about touching the screen to do something only to have it launch airwave and do something other than what I wanted. On the other hand, the One is quite impressive but I don't want to get stuck with something that is going to give me issues further down the road.

Thanks again to all that can help!

Just when was the last time HTC came out with a quality aluminum phone that their company depends on for survival? Yeah, I think they are going to get this one right.

The reason Sprint techs see a lot of HTC phones come in is because like half the smart phones sold on Sprint were HTC for a while, so it's just math. Also, the average Sprint rep knows less than the average poster on these forums about Android. Having had extensive hands on with every Samsung phone and every HTC phone up until the EVO LTE, I can tell you that HTC makes better quality phones. Their manufacturing process is also better and they are less defective than Samsung.

What happen to the guy that said the phone will be released on the 14th and that they already have stock?

Truer words were never spoken. And you can swap Sprint out with any other carrier. And remember folks, we're talking about the average rep, not all reps. No flaming.

A lot of employees have a Samsung bias. The original EVO had so much saturation that it was frequent that you would see it coming back with issues, but the device was fine, there were just so many out there. The EVO 3D did suffer from some quality issues, but as a whole they are wrong. HTC has the best quality hardware, craftsmanship, and form factor you'll find at Sprint.

I can vouch for that. The htc Evo never gave me any problems. I liked the shape and feel of the 3d but quality control on that was horrible, especially on the refurbs. After my 7th refurb I gave up on it. Was going to get the Evo lte but decided to try Samsung. Waited for note 2. For now my next phone will be Samsung. I would love to get htc again but the 3d left a bad taste.

Who said it was in stock? I must have missed that post lol.

Also I keep hearing about the rebate thing through HTC being extended. Funny thing though is the site HTC One?$100 Trade In Offer says extended but the details still says 22nd LOL

8. HOW IT WORKS: The Tool will reflect the value of a used device based upon the manufacturer, model and condition of the device ("Trade-in Value"). The Tool will generate a receipt which includes an acknowledgment by you that (1) you understand you are selling the device in consideration for the Trade-in Value; (2) by accepting such Trade-in Value, you are giving up full ownership rights to the device; (3) you understand the device will not be eligible for return; (4) you are responsible for removal of all personal information before relinquishment of device; (5) you have been advised of any return policy regarding the purchase of a new device or accessory with the coupon; and (6) you are responsible for deactivating the used device and ensuring you retire any outstanding balance. Limited-time offer expires on or before March 22, 2013 or sooner and may end without prior notice. Wow. I feel exactly the same way. Boy was the white Evo 4glte beautiful, but I just couldn't budge to get it. The build quality on HTC phones are much better in my opinion. I really have to see both these phones in person before I can make a decision. Thats literally what it came down to last year. And being that I have to pay full price this year the choice is going to be much harder. I might go with the One this year and just wait for the S5 next year. I've been having problems with my S3's weak antenna that I never had with any Evo. By the way, can anyone tell me whether or not this phone is based off the J Butterfly(sic) phone they released in Japan last year?

We could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you.

But it is. And it isn't. It's a progression, like they all are. Newer, better processor. New camera tech, new body design, new IR port, etc.

The EVO 3D was an anomaly in HTCs quality control record. It was pretty bad, though. I know people that loved it, but also have seen quite a few horror stories.

Either us Sprint people have more patience or the ATT people are way more excited for this phone. They are destroying their thread!

There are also twice as many of them.

Just seen this....

Here's my reason for being disappointed in the "delay":

I don't need this phone. I obviously want it and think it would be a great addition to my pocket. However, by once again not meeting their ship date (whether it was stated implicitly or explicitly) they've ensured their sales will be dominated by the new Galaxy. Same story with the Evo4GLTE (except slightly more out of their control). Consumers will have to worry that this will be their death knell as sales were already hemorrhaging. Why should I invest in a phone that may not get supported for the full 2 year life cycle? Will HTC rush to put out a better phone right after this to try to capture some market share once the SG4 has mowed down this current effort? It just leaves a lot of uncertainty and at the end of the day, as the consumer, I don't like uncertainty. I don't have to buy this phone and now they've given me reason not to.

Just an FYI, the OG Evo just got an update recently. Making it the longest manufacturer updated device. You seem to not know that the carriers play a big part in what devices get continued support. They usually will make sure all their top sellers get updates. The EVO lte has gotten 5 or so updates in less than a year. And hox as well, and dna has already had an update. So to say Htc doesn't update or support their devices is ridiculous.

Bad Seed Customs
Just Sick!

Well, at least I can get the rebate now since I'm up for renewal on April 1. Maybe if it takes long enough Sprint will make me an offer on a new contract before I get the phone. (are they still doing that?)

You and me both, brother. April 1st is my date as well. I think you may still get some contract offers if you call them up. I haven't done it the last year or so, but they did it for me in 2011.

My contract doesn't expire til late June but I'm eligible for a new phone on April 1. I'm ready to trade in my Evo 3D, collect $100 and move on to the One.
Tough wait but there's worst experiences in life.
We'll all survive.
