Sprint HTC One

The whole not being a "top tier phone" thing doesn't bother any of yall? Blinkfeed, which is Flipboard recycled, and Ultrapixels are the selling points. I don't know this phone is kinda feeling like the 3d to me. I love HTC phones. I value hardware over software so Ive always preferred Htc over Samsung but the One and the S4 seem months apart. You know months = years in the tech world. With Htc's history how long do you think it'll take to get 4.2? All this being said I'll probably still get the One because I'm contrarian and EVERYBODY will be getting the S4. What I fear though is I will do the One like I did the 3D, sell it and get the samsung and be miserable with the plastic toy with the plastic radios...

the "top tier" bit refers strictly to volume. HTC's sales dropped last year and, as a result, they have a harder time getting the production priority from the component manufacturers. So I'm not remotely concerned about that.

Also, I don't want 4.2. It's half baked and doesn't offer any massive improvements over 4.1. Sense 5 over 4.1 makes most of the differences irrelevant anyway. I also have a feeling HTC will be good for updates on this as they are putting so much weight behind it.

It does say now available for pre order on the best buy website! Doesnt look like you can order online though so you would have to drop into a best buy store which I might do tonight

In case neither of you have read the separate Best Buy preorder thread...several of us have tried local stores this morning and its still not yet available for pre-order. Someone apparently screwed up posting that on the website. One person was told to try back w/ Best Buy on 3/25.

I will have to persevere with my Optimus that much longer. Wish I could forget the One exists until it launches. Now I'm going to be checking for a release date everyday until it does. :'(

Looks like we better just sit back and quit being so excited for it because that will make the release date roll by faster.. i was REALLY hoping march 29th because i need a new phone but It looks like that wont happen so we better just sit back and relax now

Just got back from sprint store to replace my dad's dumb phone. I asked the rep about any updates on the htc one and he went into a tirade about htc "sucks" and they can't get any suppliers to build the phone. He then went on to tell me the SG4 is gods gift to earth, I repeated to him I was sold on htc one but he would not shut up about SG4. Does anyone know why Sprint is doing this?

I had the exact same experience. One mention of the HTC One and immediately started ranting about how great the s4 was. Frankly I think it's hard to find an educated store rep. As I stand in the store I constantly hear the employees steering people towards phones that the customers just don't want. Sometimes it seems they're trying to sell of old stock rather than putting people in the phones they want.

There's a couple reasons. The corporate commission structure doesn't take phone type into account. All upgrades are equal (any dumb or smartphone) and all activations are equal.

They are ranked on returns/exchanges and accessories, so they try to steer customers into devices that A-they will stay in, and B-have lots of available accessories.

In short, Samsung typically is easier on the rep to sell because it is (indirectly) favored by the commission structure.

Also, Samsung sells itself with all the marketing. HTC has less consumer confidence because it has less brand recognition, so people are less comfortable with it if they don't do their own research.

When a Galaxy phone has issues customers think "it must be a dud"

When an HTC has an issue, customers think "HTC sucks!"

Okay I do age with most of your post. My main gripe is this...

I go in to inquire about a specific phone that I am very interested in just to be led astray. Now if I was looking to buy a Samsung intercept and they suggested an s4, well that would acceptable lol

I guess it's a bit of a grey area. I just think the approach should be to explain the pros and cons of said phone with possible alternative's. Not to say your choice is crap

I agree. I'm just explaining my experience from when I worked there. I was a knowledgeable rep (OBVIOUSLY ;) ) but many others have learned how to bs their way through, because literally (not quite) 99% of customers have a hard time distinguishing between iOS and Android.

Yes the knowledgeable forum goers are not the norm lol. Most of my friends buy phones based on appearance. No thought goes to OS, processor, pixel density, camera quality...the list goes on

I thought the OP said "my sprint store has them in stock?"

Somebody in that process of communicating said information wasn't being completely honest as to the accuracy of the specific circumstances.

For what its worth I just registered for the $100 trade-in at htc.com and the email that came with instructions said I need to buy the HTC One by 4/30/13.

It looks like preorders will start the 4th or 5th and I'm hoping it will ship within a week after that.

EDIT: Aaaand it's official, but it's shipping two weeks later, not one :-(

And it's up.

I received an e-mail 3 minutes ago informing me of so and it said there was an offer to receive a free case and shipping, but "All promo codes have been claimed". I was planning on getting it at a Sprint store anyways :'(

Free case? Tell me why I ordered directly from Sprint at 1 a.m. ET and all I'm getting is free shipping?
I hope Sprint is paying attention. I'm tempted to cancel my online order.
