Quick question. What do you guys have your network settings set as for the sprint variant M9. I'm noticing that my M9 is consistently dropping from LTE to 3G and then sometimes drop internet or cellular service completely. Also getting a notification that keeps telling me unable to establish a network connection. Any ideas?

This is interesting to hear. Brian, where are you located?

I live in nTelos-land (no native Sprint towers, we use nTelos towers under their agreement) where the network upgrade to LTE has barely begun (and in the possible context of being sold?). On my M7, I usually had to stick with CDMA only, as CDMA/LTE would kill my data connection. Since getting my M9, I have been able to maintain data on CDMA/LTE (it would manage to get an EVDO connection), but was also being kicked down to 1x roaming on unusual networks (US Cellular, Verizon). I've been unsure/uncomfortable if this was a network issue or some problem with my phone/SIM card.

Good grief!!!! That's just beating your battery life to a pile of saw dust. That's why I left Sprint and now that I'm on AT&T I'm not having to suffer from poor battery life due to inadequate signal reception.

I'm going through the same thing, I've been tinkering with Mobile Network Settings, right now I'm on Automatic Network Mode, auto connect to 4G and WiFi, roaming is automatic and checked boxes for domestic voice, domestic CDMA Data, and domestic LTE data.
We'll see what happens.

It's the crappy Sprint network. I too am leaving Sprint after 5 years. My M7 does the same thing as the OP's phone. Sprint is getting worse and worse as time goes on. I am in the DFW area and you would think Sprint would be good here. But they are not. I am probably going to Verizon come October when my contract with Sprint is up.

I was having issues getting bounced from LTE in areas that my M7 would connect fine. I tinkered with the mobile data settings and have found that the changing the network mode from LTE/CDMA to Automatic solved the issue.

I returned my first phone thinking I just got a bum model. The second one is even worse.

I'm in LA. Had the HTC M7 for two years and never had problems like this. This is atrocious. I've had a major work project keeping me on the road all around LA this week and have come close to smashing it against the wall.

My girlfriend upgraded on the same day that I did to a Galaxy 6 and her phone connects fine to CDMA and LTE. I really don't want to do that since I love the aesthetics of the M9 but this is horrible. I haven't had one single call while driving that didn't drop.

I too was ...and still am having issues in some area's, compared to my HTC 4G that I "upgraded" from...I have always loved HTC and don't think this is a HTC issue...I think Sprint is screwing around somehow to manage their network with these new phone settings..

I'm in Chicago, and have experienced the same error popup and switching between the LTE/spark icon and 3G. With my M7, I had been aware of a couple of problematic zones, and now see my M9 switch to 3G when traveling through them.

But the "network connection" error is particularly bizarre - because it happens when I am sitting in one place at home!

I currently have Mobile data set to automatic connection, but only Local voice checked (not local data or LTE)

The first days/weeks of the M7 and M8 were also hell, especially the M8 roll out until Sprint figured out and updasted whatever it was that then let me use LTE.

I bought the M9 the day it came out. I rarely have more then 1 bar of service. I already returned my first phone, before even looking online to see if this was a problem, I thought I just got a bum phone. My M7 NEVER had problems like this. So I basically have 48 hours to return it and switch to an Galaxy 6, which I really don't want to do, but my girlfriend has none of these problems with her new Galaxy 6 that I do and I don't want to be stuck with a phone that barely works for the next two years.

I have never had good cell service with a Samsung and I would use my sis as a Guinea pig for their new devices. More importantly someone mentioned switching the phone to automatic, where it says network mode in settings, I have done that it seems to be much much better give it a shot see if helps.

Hi there. How are these settings working out for you? I've been trying to find the perfect combo so I'm curious. Thank you.

I think now you are going to achieve an experience with your mobile. wait and see what happens with you. Its very charming for you.

So I did a 350 mile drive today on I-90 through Buffalo, Erie and the Cleveland area. I wanted to stream using Tune In and use the GPS with Google Maps. The Sprint Internet was embarrassing and horrible. Mostly roaming, lost connection on Tune In continuously. It got so bad, the M9 actually crashed and did a restart. I stopped at a Sprint store in Canton Ohio and the guy working said it may have to do with leaving my home area and the phone having issues connecting with new towers. I usually update my PRL but hadn't done it in a week. He told me to dial ##72786#.
My M9 is doing better now, I've hit speeds from 25 to 50 mbps. We'll see what happens tomorrow when I drive home. The guy at Sprint told me to call him if I had any other issues which impressed me.
