Sprint Mobile Data problems

Well my husband's been googling reflashing phones but I would rather us not mess with it he's never done it. Are Best Buy has a Samsung rep I guess I could go there. It's just first Samsung said that's by then they said go to u break It We fix It and then they don't have the right firmware or binary files to flash due to unlocked I don't know.

But is it true that we're still having some signal problems because we have Sprint software on our phones cuz we did have a couple update since we got our phones including the Sprint April 16th one. I just hope this works cuz we're going to lose everything and start over and then I need to know once it's reflashed do we really need to get a new Verizon sim or just put the Sim that's in there now back in I don't know any of this stuff. And like I said my phone's not as bad as my husband's his signals worse but I'm still having some intermittent problems and losing internet when my friend with Verizon has internet right next to me.

So we can uninstall any updates we've had from Sprint without reflashing the whole phone? I don't know now I wish I just had a Verizon phone since I'm sticking with them when you get updates quicker but oh well.

Why are they not replacing your phone? Are they claiming it is not a hardware issue? It sounds like you are having issues no matter what carrier you are using. I would elevate my complaints to some type of management and try to get a replacement phone at this point. How irritating this must be for you that you have a new phone and it won't work properly and no one will help.

They're telling us it's a software problem their telling me that we still have some Sprint software on our phones cuz we had that April 16th update and that is why we're still having LTE problems I don't know if that's true They want us to have our phones reflashed and see if that helps. and if it is a hardware problem we don't know my husband's phone is worse than mine they said my husband can send his in for them to look at but he can't be without a phone. So I guess we're gonna try the reflashing first. Samsung said go to the ubreakitwefixit I'm going to Best Buy Thursday when I'm off.

Best buy with Samsung experience can reflash the phone .
Sprint or Verizon not going be helpful as its unlocked phone not carrier version.
I was going say I can help reflash your device using Odin but your not familiar with that stuff.

Edit: Sprint stuff you should be able to uninstall you have the unlocked version.

Can you PM me or just direct me to the exact file to reflash the phone back to unlocked? My husband wants to do his himself and wanted me to ask the Samsung rep what the exact file name was for the unlocked and I forgot. my husband googled and thinks he can do it himself but there's different versions he wasn't sure which one. The Best Buy rep did mine today and told me there's eight different versions because of global. I just don't want anything going wrong if my husband tries to do it and it void the warranty if something happens. But people do it all the time it doesn't seem like it's hard I don't know I'm sure he'll be able to figure it out he just doesn't know the exact file. Thanks!

Oh Thanks! I'm just now seeing this but we are just going to go into the Best Buy store today that I went to they already have the file downloaded and they can flash his phone and then the Verizon store is right down the street. We were told to start fresh and get a new sim just to be safe. If this doesn't fix his problem then I would say yes his is Hardware. Mine seems ok but their are a couple places I need to go back to and see if my signal is good. They say our phones still had Sprint Network stuff on it I don't know but mine went from April to March update so my 4/16 Sprint update is gone. Thanks Everyone!

Ok great , if any more assistant let me know.

I have had my new replacement phone for a week now. It has been working great with no issues. Thought I would update for anyone else going through this problem.

Lets hope any upcoming update will not break it again.. im on my second week with replacement phone and so far it's hanging in there. Although I did have to re-flash it since it didn't let me do any updates due to software being not supported.

My 2 months of problems with my original handset from Samsung have been sort of fixed. I switched my phone from 18 years with Sprint, to Verizon. If these jokers couldn't get their act together after 2 months, I was done with my patience. Samsung and VZW both told me I could switch my Sprint phone to VZW. I went to the VZW store they swapped the sim card (to VZ) and viola! It worked. However....after a few hours....I figured out that I have zero way of seeing if I have any voicemails. Signal in the upper left says "Sprint". In phone settings...carrier says sprint. Startup says "sprint" on fon. And my data issues the next day were horrendous. Talked to cust svc and they told me a sprint phone on VZW network won't ever have full functionality. (Said I should have been told that). Nobody told me. VZW cust svc told me they would work on my signal ..and completely disconnected my line. For 24 hrs. I talked then to Samsung premium care with who I now pay for ins. They agreed that it sounded like my handset was faulty in the first place. They overnighted me a brand new VZW handset and now all is good with VZW. Great signal, zero issues. So far, it's 100% good.

On another note....when I switched providers, they told me I could get a $150 rebate for switching providers, bringing my own phone. I submitted my application. 2 days later I was denied the rebate....them saying I had to have the original handset activated for 45 days. Since my handset was switched....I was now ineligible. Completely crap imo. Zero implications to VZW because I had a faulty handset...but that's their way of reneging on anything they can wiggle out of based on fine print. My account stayed active and my number was active, and I sure was billed for the 24+ hours they disconnected my line. This is a third party rebate company...and they imo are crap and have horse puckey business practices.

I filed a "review" of my account...and they denied me again. Bastards.

I'm done ranting now.

Well good luck to you! I did the same thing had been with Sprint for about as long as you cause of the work discount 23% off plan and was on an old grandfathered plan. 3 on our plan. Now we have 4 and all have insurance and it's cheaper. But Verizon and Samsung said we had to have our phones re-flashed cause we were having issues with Verizon and we still had Sprint software on our phones so we did that. We now have much better signal but still it cuts out sometimes and says no network connection when we no we should have good signal and we have to go into airplane mode and back or reboot and then it's excellent in the same spot. The other night mine said 2 bars LTE my husbands said 1X so I don't think we are completely fixed.

Who's thinking twice about this update ? Anyone did it yet? If so, is everything working ok! Any issues?... S10+ Sprint!!!

I'm waiting...

It can only help for Sprint IMO ....my S10+ was so bad on sprint that I left them over the issue, last week. 18 years I was with them.

$80/month avg for 18 years=$17,280. Can't fix your software problems for 2 months? Buh bye!

We switched to Verizon and my husband is still having problems. Mine isn't bad but we flashed our phones he got a new sim yesterday and they refreshed his network. I think Verizon did that for me over the phone and it made mine better. I had gotten a new sim after the re-flash my husband didn't but he's taking it today to u break it we fix it to see if it's hardware. I hope everyone is getting straightened out. We won't get a May update till after anyone else cause were on unlocked. Now that I know were staying with Verizon my next phone will probably be Verizon branded.

Where'd you buy the phone? Less than a year old and Samsung warrantied mine. I HEARD there was a bad batch of em from the start. I'm now convinced my issues were hardware related. New phone...zero issues. Granted I did switch to VZW also

Well that is what I am wondering about the bad batch from the start. My husband got his a couple weeks before mine from Samsung. Mine was on B/O from Best Buy for a couple weeks due to the pink color. Samsung wanted him to send it in to them to check it out but he can't be without a phone. Where did you get your phone at and how did you get a new one?

My husband wants a new one and is willing to pay for it and than wants then to give him credit for when he turns in the old phone but they said they don't do that. I am hoping you break we fix it says he needs a new phone I don't know what else to do but will be calling Samsung back after our visit to the store.

Call Samsung. They cover warranty. I also have Samsung care which probably helps, but it wasn't a damage issue (insurance). I got a new phone the next day. Make sure you use samsung switch and back up old phone to computer or switch all apps and settings etc to new phone. Very easy. I've now had the new one for 7 days today and zero issues. Just let them know it hasn't been connecting correctly from day one. My texts were ridiculous....would take forever to both send and receive. And LTE would come and go every second....then switch to roaming, then have zero signal, where I had full signal 2 mins before. It was about painless with them. I got a 100% brand new handset. Very happy. Shipped old handset back yesterday. They take a credit card # in case you dont send the old phone back....then they'll charge you for it.
