sprint navigator updated to telenav gps

Okay. This update is not so good. On my way home from work..
* force closed/ Hung up 6 times!
* could not connect to server try again later message if I was able to get running!

Now it is useless. Guess I will be sticking to Google now.

Tele Nav really messed this update up. I even tried rebooting the phone. Still does not work. First time I have ever had my phone just freeze like that. Would hang on the ble Tele nav screen for minutes. Hit buttons nothing happens. Hit home a couple times and finally would POP up the force close button.

Anyone else have these problems? I am running stock sense.

Weird, mine just says "Logging in..." gets to about 40% and then jumps to the main menu.
I'm seeing the exact same thing. Plus now it is dog slow drawing maps even when I have 5 bars of 3G or I'm on WiFi. Sprint Nav is so slow drawing maps it's just about useless on my phone. Google Maps is just kicking this apps arse right now.

hmmm, mine says version 2.8 and i cant figure out how to update it.. ><

See my post from page 2:

FYI, for those that are running a ROM like Calkulin's EViO and installed Sprint Navigation as TeleNav from the "Removed_Apps" folder, just go to this website:

Voice-guided GPS Navigation on your Mobile Phone – TeleNav GPS Navigator

I didn't want to do it over WiFi for some reason, but it worked over 3G.

BTW, you can click this link on your computer, then click "HTC" on the page that comes up and the EVO 6.2 update will be the first on the new page and you can download it and then copy it to your SD card and install it at your leisure.

Awesome, worked like a charm, thanks a bunch for the link, I didn't use it initally since I'm still running stock with no root access or roms or anything. But hey, it's fixed! Thankies! :D

Go into applications click on running. Telenav is there running. No matter what you do it keeps coming back. Tried touch to stop app. A second or two pops right back up. I think this update is killing my battery! It is the only app I have downloaded/updates in last two days. Right now I sit at 39% battery life. I have the sidieo 3500 battery. Since I have had this battery. I have never been this low on a charge ever!
I have adio file manager. Went in and uninstalled telenav update. Brought it back to factory sprint nav setting.
Now when I go back to running applications... there is no more telenav running or nav running.

So if you are experiencing a very high battery drain... might want to check into this.

I use Sprint Nav every worknight for my commute home because of the traffic function. Friday it wouldn't load, kept saying it couldn't connect to the satellites. I was actually going somewhere other than home after work so I had to fire up Google nav and listen to that horrible voice again. Never got any notice from Sprint that nav had changed. After reading this thread I used the link above and did the upgrade. Looks great. Will be trying it out this week.

Just in case this has not been mentioned.

My sprint navigator was updated today and is now called Telenav gps navigator version 6.2

I just used it Wednesday and had the old version. Go to use it today and asked to upgrade.
Not sure what is all been changed. I do know it uses a triangle like Google nav not the little car icon like before. I kinda liked the little car icon.

Now there is an upgrade button. It's $4.99 per month if you upgrade to premium.
Here is what is included
*speed traps
*traffic cameras
*lane assist on freeways
*speed limits as you drive
Not sure if it's worth the $4.99

I wish it would have the current speed setting like the garmin nav's have.

Just thought I would let everyone know about the upgrade.

That has been there on mine forever...

HHMMMMMmmmm i went into sprint navi but didnt ask me to upgrade....you guys running an EVO?.....

I'm completely stock right now... Is there anyway to force an OTA update on my phone?

Captivate, the HTC Aria, and the Motorola Backflip, branded as AT&T Navigator 2.2.* Telenav also tells us that Android devices on other carriers will soon be able to upgrade their version.

I hope this will clear up any misunderstanding.

I posted this earlier in this thread

Go to that website on your phone's browser and it will download it or go to it from a computer and select HTC and then the 6.2 update and you can download it and then put it on your SD card and it will install over the existing Sprint Navigation.

BTW, yes, these are all EVOs.
