I called my radio shack store where I bought my evo last year since I haven't gotten a call about setting up an appointment since last yr there was so many ppl she had to. She told me I was the only preorder for the evo 3d, I don't live in a big city but compare to the evo last yr is not the same so she said if she don't get at least 5 preorders she can't open the store at 8 ill have to wait til 10 when the mall opens so there's not that much hype out there

Could be that many people don't know that they can call Sprint to be eligible for the full upgrade again, so many Evo 4G owners might not jump on the Evo 3d.

Well it could be all that OR it could be the fact there is like no advertising on TV or no advertising in any of my magazines & almost nothing on the web. Where is all the Nascar advertising? i see the EVO 4g all the time lol its pretty funny its almost like they are trying to sell as few as possible on release day.

I found out today I was only person so far to pre-order (make deposit) on the E3D. It doesn't surprise me at all. I haven't seen one TV commercial yet advertising it. Last year they advertised the hell outta the Evo. That plus economy is main reason. Oh well tho, that just means no lines no wait for me, come 24th. :-D

im also the only preorder at RS where im at.. in a small town of just under 10,000 people though so not too surprised.. there was a couple other people there besides me for the evo launch tho

Last year I stood in line to pre order the EVO, this time around I was the only one on the pre order list at best buy in a big city. Something is fishy with sprint

Just a week or two ago I met a person who, after I pulled out my 4G, said "oh, you have an Evo too? It's great, isn't it? I just got mine". When I informed him that the Evo 3d is just around the corner he had no clue.

I can't remember exactly, but I think Sprint waited a good while before going all out on their ad campaign with the Evo 4G last year as well.

I get great service in my area and thats with the so called bad signal phone nexus s 4g that there is so much talk about. I have an exchange waiting to happen on the 24th. cant wait.

Apple caters to more affluent people. Hard times aren't that hard for them.
LOL. Priceless comment (but probably true).

Neither Sprint or HTC seem to be hyping this version.

sprint never advertises anything...they might have one or two commericals..sprint way to hype it up is word of mouth...ill rather use word of mouth then waste millions of dollers..the product will sell its self

Sprint won't advertise for this before it is available in stores. You never want to discourage customers from buying your current products by making them aware of upcoming products. Who would pay $200 for an Evo today when they could wait a couple weeks and buy one that is twice as powerful for the same amount of money?

Yeah..Also, I'm assuming they don't want to trigger a bunch of returns for people who bought another Android recently(the Nexus being an obvious example). They also don't wanna change someone's mind, who is about to buy an OG Evo, I'm sure. It seems as if this is targeted heavily at all those who stood in line for the original Evo. I guess they're expecting those people to be sure sales, and the rest they will push on random in-store walk ins.
Whatever it is, I hope it does end up being unknown at the beginning of launch. That way, we all don't have to worry about a line. Hopefully, we can all just beat the hype. Then after it's been out for a month, it'll probably be sold out at every store, and the people who had no idea about it can be the ones to jump through hoops to get it

Ahh...I can't wait! :D

not true. Sprint hyped the hell out of thr Evo last year and it was sold out everywhere.

Sprint is also going hard hyping the Nexus S also. I can't count the number of times I've seen that commercial talking about the Nexus S and Cats of all things. Before playing the X-men movie a few weeks ago at the movie theatre they showed the Nexus S 4g commercial also.

But I must say I don't remember seeing any of the commericial until the phone was like already released. So that could be it, once it releases we may very well see Heavy Television and Print Ads.

Dude... before the EVO 4G... the Palm Pre was the baddest phone they had aside from a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone... Plus the EVO Marked the advent of 4G service in the industry... lots of reasons for them to pound the pavement ahead of time on the EVO 4G. Not quite as many reasons to hit the EVO 3D ahead of time.

For people saying that Apple didn't have a low number sold on release day, you have to remember that iPhone junkies will ONLY buy iPhones, which ONLY come out about once a year. Android fans have some new device coming out almost MONTHLY the way it seems, so people aren't going to jump from Evo 4G to Evo 3D, necessarily. Could be someone just got the newest Droid so they don't want to get an Evo right away, etc... Android sales are bound to be scattered out that way strictly because of the number and frequency of devices being released.

As for the lack of 'hype' I agree, and am also surprised there hasn't been as much advertising for the Evo 3D as (IMHO) there should be, but I seem to remember the 4G being very similar. Mum was the word until about a week AFTER the release date, when all of a sudden the ads starting coming out like wild-fire (could be they're waiting on revenue from the initial sales to FUND the advert efforts, who knows?) All I can say is, no advertising necessary for THIS guy :)
