help

Try putting the update.zip file in the "root" directory of your card, as it doesn't seem to find your file properly in the "sdcard" directory.

You might have to move it to the root directory of your card via your computer when your phone is connected to it via usb cable if you can't access it and move it with whatever file management app you are using now.

By that I mean if you hook your phone to your computer and your card shows up as drive H:\ than that is where you want to put the update.zip file, not in drive H:\sdcard\ one directory down from root where you have it now.

Example, assuming your card shows up as drive H:\, this is where you have it now: H:\sdcard\update.zip

You want it to be: H:\update.zip

Update.zip does not understand and/or can't find the sdcard directory, therefore it can't open the update.zip file.

Hope I wasn't too wordy or confusing. It's worth a try, as I read somewhere it must be in the root directory. That is where I have always put my update.zip files.

Aren't we suppose to be able to change our dock? I heard that we were going to be able to in froyo
Tap APPLICATIONS, then tap MENU, then tap EDIT. Now you should be able to drag one of the existing dock items off and replace it with a new one.

I know I can follow these instructions. My fear is what I would do if there are issues. I read all off the fixes for EB13 and most if not all required command prompt entries.

Perhaps if most load it and it's pretty much error free, I will try it.So I am taking a wait and see approach. :-)

So why were people complaining about sprint id? I didn't even notice it was on my phone until I looked for it

Anyone here know if you lose your gameloft purchased games by updating the OS??? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I may have to finish these games before I update, lol!

The update failed in recovery mode. When I boot into recovery mode it goes into CWM recovery. Does this not work if you have CWM?

Alright! I'm doing the manual update. Changed the name to update.zip and got the error message. Changed it to just update and it's going through the process.

Total noob talk here, but this is the first time I've done ANYTHING like this! Pretty excited!!!

If rooting is anything like this I may take a crack at it...

Did you guys flash back to DI18 (2.1 Eclair)?? Thats the only way so far this manual update will work.

Odds are that since it was already a zip file when you named it update.zip it was actually update.zip.zip. Once you renamed it just update it still had the initial zip to give it the proper name.

It worked!!! Seems to be taking a LONG time to load up, but I think I read somewhere before that it'll do that the first time after an update. Am I right?

That's exactly what happened. After the error message, I just rebooted and scanned the card using Astro. I searched for "update" and found update.zip.zip

Finally gave in and ran the update.zip method. The process worked flawlessly. All my apps are present and functioning.

No you have to be completely stock Eclair 2.1 (DI18) for this to work.

You can't be rooted with CWM installed, it won't flash in CWM.

You need to use the stock recovery mode.

So, if I do the manual update what happens if Sprint releases a revised update for whatever reason (let's assume maybe this one was pulled due to some issue). I would assume the new version will not update if you did the manual update.

So if I have to go back how easy is it to revert back to stock? And will doing so cause me to lose any apps/contacts/SMS/events/etc.?

The last 48 hours my phone has suddenly become insanely unreliable.

Thanks.
