I thought sprint said, "No LTE devices til Q2 2012." Hopefully there's some loophole in the wording that would allow us to get it sooner. I really miss an LED notification light.
Really? 2015 is THREE years, the Galaxy Nexus if released soon would be EOL by then. If a Galaxy Nexus comes out, it will be either WiMax or just straight up EVDO only. Sprint and Samsung will absolutely not a release a untested radio. Too many nightmare scenarios. If Sprint releases a LTE Galaxy Nexus, it wont be until after the middle of next year and that's just way too late.I would never own a 3G only device again and since support for wimax is ending in 2015, that rules out a wimax device also. Looks like i'm holding out for the late 2012 Sprint Nexus
Don't know where you were (Was 4G even connect? How many bars) but I get 6-10 Mbps on WiMax here in NYC. EVDO on Sprint and Verizon gets ~2.5 Mbps at it's very best.Kind of off topic, but my friend just got a SGSII (or whatever srint calls it Touch Evo Galaxy 4G wimax S 2) and I was playing with it, testing out the "4G" speeds and whatnot, and the damn thing didn't even light up and was the same speed as my 3G DroidX lol What does wimax do?
yeah they can keep it the same as the Verizon version. just temporarily disable the LTE chip. then when Sprint is ready - activate the chip via software. done. they can even market it as "Sprint's first LTE phone!" and start the LTE deployment in the top 5-10 major market cities and go from there.
