Staples already blowing out 8gb N7

The price is not dropping for the 8gb. I work at staples and there is no up comming price drop. It has been discounted but not clx yet.... I hate how forums start rumors with no proof

Thanks for the clarification.

I think some of the confusion is the verbiage Staples uses on their site to indicate that something cannot be ordered online any more and the remaining stock is being sold only in stores where it might happen to be resting. "Low Stock Clearance Item" is a tad misleading, and I can see where it might cause some confusion.

You can see it for yourself - simply find the Nexus 7 8GB on Staples' web site, note that it says "in store only", and take the perfectly reasonable next step - check pretty much any store for availability.

But, yeah, in context of what you've just said - that message probably means "We ain't getting any more and good luck finding one at a store."

It should be noted that the leaked image from Staples, showed the layout of the Nexus end cap, and it specifically identified the 8gb as being removed from the display and clearanced using the normal clearance procedure (whatever that is). Rumor, sure it is, but this image was an official staples document. No clue on price point. The company I work for discontinues items all the time without reducing their price. Just means we are not getting any more. It is also possible that they might go back to Google as warranty replacements or even corporate/education bulk sale units.

You are WRONG. The staples website for in-store only sale lists "low stock clearance item." the price will drop after the event.

So when and where is this blowout happening? I got Solstice shopping to do and my local Staples hasn't dropped the price yet. Although there is that 15% off Staples coupon in my gmail box...

Probably 8GB for160 or 170 - no need to have an HP or RIM fire sale. THE 32GB will apparently be 250 and the 16GB will be in the middle. The 32GB are not supposed to be sold until Google has their event. Staples has Windows 8 demo machines but can't sell until Microsoft has their event.

If its the coupon for this week, it isn't good on tablets. Trust me, I inspected the fine print on that one.

I love this thread! 100% speculation, 0% verification. Great entertainment, but no real value!:p

Staples and Office Depot hardly ever have coupons for tech/computers/tablets any more. I always check the print and get disappointed. I did however get an email directly from office depot last year for $25 off a tablet, which was when I bought my KF. Always once in a blue moon though :'(

I just went and bought my n7 16gb...thought I would get it before the price drop... if it does drop I'll get the price adjustment. If it doesn't drop then I return it for the 32gb.... anyways there is a 5 off 50 coupon that is good on tablets.

Its a random coupon... first go to staples.com, so the internet knows where u are interested in. Then go to crains new York business website. Hit refresh until a staples ad comes up. Watch the ad for a second and it will change into a click able link to print the coupon.

Also they had the end cap layout on the end cap and I saw it with my own eyes. It said display the 16 and 32 and clearance out the 8 models.

Displays are one thing. Has anyone actually seen Staples blowing them out yet? And what was the price?

Most likely, if there is going to be a price drop, won't be until 10/29.

Some places will put items on "clearance" but won't sell it at a loss. It either A. just gets random people to buy thinking they are getting a deal or B. just marks that there will not be a replenishment of stock.

So I called my local staples store today, and they said that both the 8gb and 16gb are 200 dollars. When I asked if there was any way to get a discount on the 8gb, they recommended I buy the 16gb....I am incredibly confused.

This often times means that Google will be taking them back for full credit. There would be no reason for Staples to discount them in this situation. Of course that is IF this is the situation. It is not uncommon, my retailer that I work for does the same thing. The day after a holiday, certain things are pulled off and separated because we don't include them in the clearance sale since we can send them back and get 100% cost back for them.

Hmm. I wonder if Google will upgrade them to 32GB and sell them as refurb models at 10% off. Nice way to recoup the cost.

Is anyone selling the 8gb model for a good price? I wanted to buy my dad a tablet and since he would only use it for a few apps and internet viewing the Nexus 7 8gb would be perfect for him.

A bit of an update, I ended up finding one of the last 8gb Nexus 7s in Boston, so I decided to buy it at 200 and hope that the price comes down within 14 days. I still find it amazing that they sell both at the same price, I even talked with the manager and showed him the leaked document haha. He said that just because it's on clearance it doesn't mean the price is reduced. Go figure.

Seems pretty silly to even go to that trouble. Why even buy it for $200 when you could have just gotten the 16GB.?

The staples near me is selling the 8gb for 159. They said they had a couple left. I was tempted, but didn't do it.
